Ridley scott still gets work because most of his movies make a profit. He is one of the highest grossing directors in the World.

Sadly he seems to churn movies out now with none of the care he used to have for cinematography.

I mean he is 87 years old, I guess we can forgive him for not taking as much care these days, a lot of 87 year olds dont even know what day it is, let alone make a movie

Was Ridley really much involved in this, anyway? He's credited as one of three producers but I got the impression that was more in name than action.

Alien: Romulus made $350m on a $80m budget; Covenant made $238m on $97m; Prometheus $402m on $125m. These films may have been disappointments but they were still decent mid-hits.

Scott was just the producer on Romulus so that doesn't count as being one of his movies. Prometheus was dumb and Covenant was slightly less dumb, if anything Prometheus made less people go and see Covenant as the former really wasn't all that despite the hype with it being his first "Alien' movie since the original.
