Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

I must admit I liked the updated films as well with the turrets that were destroying hordes and hordes of Aliens. Damn good films.

I also remember playing AvP 1 when it was out,, damn that game was scarey. When playing the Alien you could run up and around the walls talk about confusing. Damn atmospheric though.

hehehe avp1 was about the only game to cause true paranoia in a game for me... you hear the scratching of a nearby face hugger and literally blast everything you can ... and then quit the game for a bit of quiet time :)

shame avp2 was nowhere near as scary... hope they can live up to the first game and not just make it an action packed bloodbath

Summed up my feelings on the games perfectly :) Never really got into AvP 2 for those very reasons.
 
Yeah, the extended edition of Aliens was good, although I could have done without finding out that Hicks first name was Wayne :p
 
Aye. Hicks I think was my favourite character from the films. Alien was okay, Aliens rocked and then Alien 3, in my opinion, sucked.

Ah well can't have everything.

Would be cool if the missions didn't just consist of fighting aliens/predators, but a mix of putting down colonial uprisings, battling other foreign fighting forces, and just when you least suspect it an Alien turns up to make it a real bad day! That could be cool.
 
I would say Alien 4 was pretty watchable actually. Hugely different style to the other films but kept my interest far more than 3.

Plus Michael Wincott is a damn cool guy :)
 
Massive fan of the Alien and Aliens movies, after that they were garbage mind!!! Alien 3 weren't too bad though!

I'll be keeping an eye out for this, have they got a web site or anything?

Oh and heres my quote;

Anyone else notice that the Ship prolouge level in COD4 has quite a few Aliens lines in it? someone at IW is obviously a fan.

Its a good basis for a game but I wont get my hopes up too much. AvP games were very good mind you.
 
My quick thoughts on the movies:

Alien Resurrection was the sequel to Aliens, whereas Alien3 was a sequel to Alien. The original and 3 are horror movies and Aliens and 4 are action films. Personally I like the original film far more then any of the others, but I much preferred Alien3 to Aliens, much more of horror fan then action fan.

I suspect we could debate the merits of the individual films for all eternity :p

Personally I thought Alien and Aliens were both great movies... Alien 3 much less so and Alien 4 fell somewhere between the first two and the third.

I guess the important thing is that as a whole, the films rock :)

Ditto. Bloody game. The tracker was worse for me, those beeps ... the beeps.. its still BEEPING!!! WTF IS IT

Only played AVP very briefly in the pitch black, stupidly scary game as a marine, especially when the damn lifts would set off the tracker.

Remember being quite early in the game, alien just appears from the other end of the corridor so i leg it, down to the next level and get crushed by that damn lift.
 
I love AvP hopefully they can bring back the scaryness in this, although tbh i have my doubts :(.

I remember playing AvP and the first time the Motion detector went off i was sooo scared i had to pause the game and wait a while before i could play again when i came back i realised it was a broken door setting it off :D

I nearly had a heart attack when that happened to me, it took my breath away for a few moments.

AvP was a seriously good game, trying to get the 'cheats' was fun too, sniper munch for the alien :)
