Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

Dell got back to me saying that they will not help me out and said I should buy a new monitor, wtf this is a brand new one not even a month old, so I'm going to ask to return it under the distance selling act as unfit for purpose as it arrived damaged and if I have to start a PayPal dispute, I'm duscusted with this situation.

I hope you get it sorted but isn't distance selling act only 14 days?

I did state to them it was unfit for purpose as it arrived damaged, I can contact PayPal if they don't play ball, I read a story on reddit that a guy had a headache with his rma, they sent him a replacement screen that had deep scratches on it and told him to wipe them off.

I've personally never had issues with Dell when it comes to customer support and RMA, I've used them lots relating to work...... Out of interest, where did you buy the Monitor from, or was it directly through Dell/Alienware?

Yes bought at dell, what I found that was funny, the name of the customer service that told me to contact tech support was the same person that replayed to me.
I'm utterly shocked they're not just replacing it for you, especially if you've only owned it short term and the damage was noted pretty much straight away, makes no sense from their side..... I've had items fail months if not a year into their manufacturer warranty (through multiple companies - to include Dell) and it's always been pretty straight forward, and I've generally had a new item in hand within a week.

Did you speak to technical support? Or just customer care? I found that customer service/care could only go so far - but when I phoned (actually called them) technical support I had my replacement / refund handled in less than a day.

Customer support and the tech team was the same person,im stating to this it was Ai
Did you speak on the phone? Customer support was via chat - but tech support was on the phone and you speak to an actual person. Initially I spoke to someone from India who ran through the usual queries - then I was forwarded to a lady in Ireland who had more detailed queries that were less scripted.

I'm guessing this was through an online chat support or e-mail? Have you just tried the old way of picking up the phone and calling, as in all honesty sometimes that is the best way, I can see a few numbers available, I know it comes across as bit crappy, but I've done this with Virgin before, just ask to be transferred directly to a UK based support center, they will generally do this for you.

I can see on their website they also offer an automated returns process, have you been through this? Dell Returns Process

guys, what kind of soundsystem have you connected to the aw3225qf's hdmi port? seems some folks have problem with it, especially connecting soundbars. so i feel perplexed. any suggestions?

Dell have said that they will be releasing a firmware update in April to allow the user to disable DSC (data stream compression) on the AW2725DF (and presumably the AW3225QF?) so that NVIDIA's DRS (dynamic resolution scaling) can be used at lower refresh rates. Currently, the monitor enables DSC automatically and it is not disabled when using 144 Hz or lower at 2560x1440 so I can no longer use DSR to downscale from 3840x2160 and 5120x2880, something that is useful for older or less demanding games that have poor or no anti-aliasing.

Great news I think.

RTINGS review of the AW2725DF is also up now to everyone: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw2725df

They confirm that the AW2725DF is G-SYNC compatible and that there is flickering with VRR but it is no different to other OLED displays. I am kind of disappointed really at that because it means that NVIDIA's certification programme which lists flickering as one of the things they test for when validating a display as G-SYNC Compatible is meaningless. My previous IPS display had zero flickering with VRR so it seems like this is another flaw with using OLED or QD-OLED displays.

Before I pull the trigger on the AW2725DF I’ve read many reports of flickering. What have been your experiences with this?

If you using VRR and have OLED you will experience flickering at some point. Saying that I've have experienced very little flickering with my AW2725DF. Not at all in Windows, whilst in game or whatever videos/movies etc. Very minor occasionally in ingame menues or loading screens but it's so minor I don't notice unless I look for it specifically. Flicker isn't an issue with my screen :-)
