Alienware AW3821DW or Samsung G9?

The G9? The 5120 x 1440 beast?

I really wonder about that... how can 240Hz be achieved on a montor with such a high resolution.

It does look beautiful I have to admit, but even with my rig (10900/3080) I wonder if it would be able to support good FPS at such high resolutions....

Its 10% less pixels than a 4k screen so just look at framerates with a 3080 on 4k and add 10% to get a rough idea of performance.

Thats why i quite like the AW38. Its 20% less than my old 4k screen so that has given a noticeable framerate boost to every thing so i can actually drive it between 60-120 fps and make good use of the extra speed of the screen,

Could I bother you to take a picture of white background in daylight? If you cant dont worry about it :)
 
No worries bud :)

I think Im going to go for this panel....the X38 is just too expensive at a further £500-£600. for the sake of extra refresh rate.

Incidentally, any difference between running this panel at 144 at 8bit compared to 120 at 10bit?

Nice, it's what I managed to snag mine for. Incidentally, they tried delivering today (like 20 mins ago) but I'm not on camp until the weekend so they had to turn it away :( Makes me sad

Have to say I never dealt with Dell before, but so far... very impressed.

For me the safety net is returns are arranged by Dell, Im nervous about returning panels since couriers dont insure against monitor damage....
 
Well so far so good. G9 is jaw droppingly awesome with games so far running smoothly.

Can't see any issues at all so far, (fingers crossed!), fits well on my desk and doesn't really take up any more space than my previous two 27" monitors and looks much neater. Even wife approves.

Its not offputting having too much peripheral vision?

Do you think it takes up more spec on the desk than a standard UW?

My desk is actually perfect as it’s a corner unit, suits the G9 perfectly.

in actual fact it’s created more space, and it’s right what they say about the curve, it just feels right.

Will post a couple of photos later

just loaded a few games, had a few OMG moments, it really is like seeing them for the first time

To hijack ever so slightly - @Baddass have you gotten your hands on the AW38? Do you know if it's the same LG panel as LG's GL/GN950? I can't spot anything on TFTcentral beyond the press release post and I don't think I've seen you comment on them here ;o

It has to be.... I honestly cant believe its not...
Every 38" out there seems to be an LG one at least....

Ill go have a little hunt for this actually.

On another note... just wondering about this G9.... I mean... hmm.

No its too big for me :D
