Alienware's new gaming PC is pretty damn cool

Looks really terrible like a cheap n nasty XPS (which it is but more overpriced if thats possible!!) surprised this thread is still going as its a competitor...........

I must admit, the case is nice.

My first gaming PC was an Alienware. And the build quality was pretty good to be honest. All the cables were beautifully tidied up etc.

But...it was WAY more fun installing my own new graphics card and i7 =D

bah load of rubish only thing i liked was the lights so you can see what your doing in the dark the rest is just crap I'll keep my antec 1200 over this any day.

was i seeing things when i looked at there site and went on the build spec page they were offering an overclock of the i7 975 to ... 3.6ghz for $200 - just for the service to overclock it by 300 mhz. thats just blantently ripping off consumers. p.s isnt this whole thread kind of against ocuk competitor rules

Alienware have never been about value for money though. They have always been about extracting large sums of money for cool stuff from those people who can afford it.

And you have to admit, they have some pretty cool stuff.

That case is horrible

Alienware may sell powerful PCs, but you pay a massive premium for having them built for you, and the cases are never as nice as some of the other brands around (Lian-Li for example).

Only time I'd ever spend that amount of money would be for something like this.

Looks nice, but I personally dont see myself ever buying a prebuilt pc, takes all the fun out of it.

This. The blood on my mobo faceplate offers a special feeling of love and empathy I've never got with a rig someone else built for me - I'll never go back. Also, while I quite like the new case, there are better lookers around. Pushed into a corner, I'd rather have the Skeleton than the alienware - I've never been a fan of the Lian Lis everyone raves about, except maybe this one. Then again, I have strange tastes like that. I fully intend to drive a Lotus within the next 5 years, which just goes to show.
