All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

For spurs hopefully the entire midfield will be show the door bar maybe huddlestone/lennon

and get rid of that clown robinson

owen is about to sign a new 3yr contract I believe? I dont know if martins will go yet I think he may stay for another season.

So far i have read that

Jose > Inter and wants drogba/lamps
ribery > chelsea
eto > highest bidder
flamini > some where in europe inter/ac

Wouldn't mind Villa and Silva joining us! Valencia are having their worst season in years and are just 2 points above the drop. Unthinkable as it is, if they do go down then it's certain Villa will leave and possibly a few others.

Ive said before that im not sure Villa will settle over here but i wouldn't minding finding out ;)

As for Silva, i really like the guy. Again there will be a concern over whether he'll be able to handle the physical side of the EPL but he's got so much potential that he could be a superstar. He can play anywhere across the front too which is a positive.
Almost certain Carson won't sign permanently

Im still pretty confident it'll go through. Seems to me as if Villa are making these noises in an attempt to force the price down. It's clear that he want to leave us, he's happy at Villa and im pretty sure O'Neil is happy with him. Im sure a deal will be struck in the summer.

Brad Guzons a name we've been linked with too. Maybe sparky sees him as current Brad's replacement. Michael Bradley is another name thats been doing the rounds but we've apparently got competition from Everton for his signature. Tom Huddlestone is another name, and a player i'd love to see in a Blackburn shirt.

As for the more obscure "in" rumours:
Farfan
Beattie
Sidwell
Tonge

Why we need another striker is beyond me. Farfan can play on the wing I think, would be a decent signing but whether we could attract him... Sidwell maybe, but i'd rather Bradley to be fair and Tonge, he's a good player but he's not the caliber we need if we want to push further up the table next season.

As for the outs, Santa Cruz to Man Utd is one, and Bentley to any club who can say these magic words "Join us and you will be guaranteed an England spot!".

Talks are set to start but by the sounds of Owen's post-match interview yesterday, he didn't seem overly keen. When asked if he was happy and was going to sign a new deal to be part of the future under Keagan, he dodged the question very well.

We need:

RB: We've been linked with Bosingwa and Daniel Alves, but I'm hoping we snap up Rafinha who, for me, is a better defender than either and can get forward just as well. Because he plays in the unfashionable German Bundesliga he'll no doubt be cheaper than the more fashionable Portuguese and Spanish players.
LB: Could do with cover for Evra, or even a player to replace him if he goes. I can't really think of any top LB's though, the best choice for me would probably be Urby Emanuelson of Ajax who looks like he can whip in a mean cross, but I've only seen him on Goalissimo :p.
ST: Been linked with everyone here, personally I think we need 2 as we only have 2 at the moment (Saha doesn't count and will go), so Huntelaar and Fabiano would allow us different styles, both are more forward players than we have and both can head the ball. Depends if you want a more dynamic side or a more structured side.

I would hazard around £35-£45m to be spend in the summer on players, we're at a position now where we are on the cusp of something special and we need to spend big to fill that little piece of the jigsaw left.

nelson apparently wants to play in the premier league and possibly for villa

i doubt they will sign that liability carson although i reckon they should take a risk and buy him. 10 million though...

Carson's form since the Croatia game has been sketchy, and MON has gone public in saying that he will wait until the end of the season.

If the price falls to £5-6m, I think we will swoop, but beyond that he will look elsewhere, perhaps at Jaaskalinen.

Definitely hope Crouch or Riise don't sign.

I agree whole heartidly at this - one Centre back (as I think Pique WILL go undoubtedly - and Jonny Evans isnt good enough unfortunately) and full back's on either side , I think we are linked with nearly every full back thats even half decent, but Alves is unlikely to arrive imo (which is good)

1/2 the links are from or play in Portugal, and they may be good but maybe we would be pushing it too far (turn into Portuguese Arsenal lol)

I would love to see two reasonably well known strikers arrive, but I think we would be lucky with one (we have a couple of young lads hoping to progress, and they may be frozen out if two arrive)

There's been rumours all season of United going for Veloso. No idea why that would ever happen. More recently we've also been linked with Moutinho as well, but again I don't see the point in that unless Scholes retired in the summer.

Arsenal are considered by some to be looking at making wholesale changes, with rumours of Flamini and Hleb moving on, and possibly Adebayor.
With regards to those, the only one that's really us shipping them out is Hleb, which I've heard a suprising amount of rumours about (ie. suprisingly enough to almost, possibly, make it briefly considered by Wenger during a very restless, post-cheese dream). Flamini is stalling on a new contract (he wants an absolute ****load apparently) and so it's up to him whether he wants to stay (he'd be an idiot to leave imo, he has a first-team place for life here at the moment).

Adebayor isn't going anywhere.

Wenger has dismissed the rumours of us looking at David Villa, but he put it in a typically guarded "We've not considered him at this moment in time. If we do sign him, I never said we weren't going to, honest. You can't make me sign anything. Is this on tape?" Wenger manner. So maybe.

Personally, I think we need another striker (to replace our two talented, but constantly injured current crop), a tall, physical centre back, and (whisper it) an actual left-footed player for the left wing (heaven forbid!). Wenger has said he's looking at two actual-now-quality players to bring in, but even then, I doubt we'll have heard of them.

There's "commitment to a club", and then there's Michael Owen's interpretation of "commitment to a club". You'd be suprised how different they are.

Get your thieving hands off! Rafinha's ours

I wouldn't mind Alves too, to play rw :)

I think he would be brilliant. He is totally awesome with his control of the ball so strength wouldn't be much of an issue. I like you, I think it's definitely worth the risk! :D

Saying that, if either of them transfer to us, then we're in severe danger of turning into the Spanish national team! :p

Moutinho is a more senior player than Anderson anyway, so unless he was happy to rotate with Anderson then I don't see the point. Again with Veloso, he'd be behind Hargreaves. Also, everytime I've seen Veloso he's been average or worse.

You have Alves, we'll have Rafinha. We were linked with Rafinha many years ago, so I wouldn't be surprised to see us land him. Plus he's Brazilian, so it's another Portuguese speaker and a countryman for Anderson.

Nokkon is right, we spend enough right this summer and we're done, we'd save money over next 2 or 3 seasons as if we can keep squad together we wouldn't need much at all just buy in potential. I'd take moutinho probably, but from what i've seen of veloso which isn't a lot admittedly i don't really see we need him.
