All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

well you've got your world class players quota well covered if as being reported you pick up:
Barry, Valencia, Degen, Amorebieta and Riera.

I agree, he is leagues ahead but he is still not world class and has an ego the size of a planet.

To compete with your lot we need to sign world class players and alas, bentley is not one- he just thinks he is.

Although he's been fantastic for us this season, I fully agree with that. He's good now, but lets face it, MGP was just as good as him last season. Bentley stepped into the limelight at the right time, England needed a new Beckham and many players at Blackburn just weren't performing. Normally i'd hate to see us lose a player of his quality, but the money would allow us to bring in some more quality. We sold Duff for 17-18 million if i recall, i'd be surprised if we let Bentley go for less.

I preferred it when we weren't in the media that often, seems we can't go a few days without Bentley selling a part of his life story to The Sun.

I know this season MGP has had an iffy season (from a non-blackburn supporter point of view) but last season I thought he was mightily impressive myself

I actually like Bentley too - yes he is very over confident, and he has a problem with how he presents himself, I dont think its ego though

I also didnt blame him for sitting out the under 21 championship's either (or whichever summer tournament it was) , personally dont think he deserved the grief, even though it did leave the England side ****ed

Oh please! Bentley is leagues ahead of them. I'd also rate him ahead of Alonso for his passing game. You need someone who can sit out on the right and knock the ball around and Bentley would be perfect for that.

Alonso's passing is leagues ahead of Bentley, he's (Alonso) arguably better than Carrick but his all round game isn't quite as good IMO.

His range of passing is bettered by no other player in the league (Fabregas' shorter game may be better) and he's a better all round player than Carrick too.

Let us not forget, Bentley has now performed at a top level for 2 seasons.

No he hasn't. He'd done well for Blackburn for a couple of seasons but he has also been pretty inconsistent too.

The test of whether he can play at a top level is if and when he joins a top club and he's put under constant scrutiny.

sod that, last season you might have been able to argue the case, based on alonso's 1 good season but carrick has far surpassed him this season.

No he hasn't. Alonso started this season well (which Carrick didn't), he then missed a large part of the season through injury and admittedly struggled with his game when he came back but the last 4-5 games he's been excellent.

At his best he's far better than Carrick and even when he isn't there isn't much between them. Carrick can only dream of being able to pass the ball like Alonso can and when Fergie spends the best part of £40m on CM's in the summer and both McClown and Capello have picked the likes of Jenas and Barry ahead of him it says a lot about what they think of him.

Also this myth about 1 good season. He was excellent in his first season and wasn't much worse in his second, it was only last season where his form dropped off and like i said above, for the best part of the games he's been fit for this season he's been very good.

of course he's played well in since returning from injury don't you know, this is towards the end of the season you're miles off having any chance of winning the league, this is where we get the annual 'championship winning form' from you to set up next year being your year.

All the better for us he's not running the risk of getting injured for England. He's Man Utds best midfielder and in the second half of the season, I'd say the best CM in the league.

I'd take Carricks passing over Alonso's ANY DAY.

You may be able to argue that Carrick offers more than Alonso going forward but there is no comparison in passing ability. Alonso hits passes on his left foot that Carrick couldnt hit if he had 10 attempts on his right.

SPURS HAVE SIGNED MODRIC - BACK OF THE NET BOYS!!! :D :D :D

The Club is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for the transfer of Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric.

Personal terms have been agreed with the player and he will now undertake a medical and apply for a work permit.
