Excellent players are neither necessarily high profile or expensive. You just have to be able to spot them.
He scores goals, he gets a lot of assists and he's the heartbeat of the team. What else is he required to do?Well it will. With Gerrard there the midfield is 'seemingly' secure and you aren't looking for anyone new. I think you should be. Gerrard is seen as some sort of god that can do everything, but the truth is that for every goal/tackle/long ball for the cameras, he offers very little else.
He's a better passer but Gerrard is superior in every other way.Alonso is a far far better player.
Nope, not joking at all. I happen to think Gerrard is perhaps the most overrated player on the planet.
One of the best things Liverpool could do, for their chances of winning the Prem, is selling Gerrard. He's a headless chicken in central midfield, and not anywhere near the class of Roy Keane, Vieira or Ballack in their pomps. For the price some teams would pay for Gerrard you could get 2-3 excellent players and really thrust your chances of winning the league forward a few notches.
Ronaldo is the best Midfielder in the world. Gerrard is the best in his position though.Sorry Hlebio but your verdict on Gerrard is plainly tainted. He's one of, if not the best midfielder in the world when you look at what he constantly delivers.
Scholes for me. And Fabregas. There are others in other leagues, but those 2 spring to mind immediately.eggyolk said:Alonso is a specialist and no one can beat his passing ability. He just hasn't been delivering that "first season" performance for sometime now.

you know fans of other teams just get jealous.
Alonso wins Carrick at passing. Theres no question there I'm afraidNo Carrick?

Scholes... OK
But compare them when Alonso reaches Scholes' age.
