I trust Alex in his sgnings.

Just look at how well Bebe is doing.

In all seriousness, he is probably the best manager in the world at finding talent... well maybe second to Wenger. Henry, Bergkamp.. the list goes on.

Apparently he turned down £75,000 a week, that is a ridiculous amount of money for someone as rubbish as he is. I hope he's only staying until the end of his contract because if we end up giving this idiot even more money than that then I might be a little bit sick in my mouth.

In fairness his record at least on paper, doesn't look too shabby.

10/11 season: 28 apps, 9 goals, 7 assists
11/12 season: 35 apps, 8 goals, 11 assists

that is only counting league appearances.

However stats aside, he is far too anonymous in too many games. I would prefer a player who is consistently good rather than infrequently excellent. Maybe Moses could have been an ideal replacement?

Berba's stats on paper during the 2010/2011 season look good but when you break it down.....

Didn't RVP say without Walcott he wouldn't score as much goals? I think Theo would do better at a lower ranked club. Maybe Swansea.

Then he still scored a bunch of goals? I get your point though, it's not right just to focus on the numbers in football.

I remember RVP saying something along those lines, but hey if he can score that many goals with our last seasons midfield then there is no doubt he will bang in even more at utd.

off topic bit: Have you seen any of breaking bad season 5? How epic! Shame the season break is coming/here :(

Check out the movie forum. I created the Se5 thread.
R.I.P. Mike :(

He scored the majority of his goals in 3 games while Chico spread his goals out in about 20 games. Thats probably why Chico started the game against Barca in the CL final.

Consistency is key in football.

Dempsey would be nice, or Chamberlain on the right wing instead. Like you say, Walcott is far too pedestrian in far too many matches to be of any real use.

I think Walcott should be sold, he wants more money so will leave on a free next summer because he will 24 then and thus Arsenal won't get a tribunal fee, a bit silly giving a player a contract that runs out just months after they hit 24.
Been at the club 6.5 years now and still hasn't hit the big time, the time to start delivering has been and gone so Arsenal should cash in while he is still worth something.

As for replacements, Arsenal don't need any. Just sell him and use players already at the club, job done.

Read the player profile I linked earlier:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...d-transfers-scouting-report-for-javi-martinez

With all the Martinez' skill, the key negative is his lack of agility. Arguably he could be a better CB than DM and I can see why Premeirship clubs would see €40M+ as being poor value for a DM/playmaker who can't react or recover position quickly enough.

Agility has never stopped fergie from playing a defender in midfield. Just see Jones' attempted experiment.

Nevermind, its a young team, we need time to gel and oh yea, dont splash the cash on CL final flights just yet id say.

glad to see the official anouncement from spurs re: dembele, was starting to wonder if we'd been gazumped!

release clause or not, that's a nice bit of business from levy and i wonder if he came up during the discussions over modric as he had been on reals radar, even if it was a weak bleep.

£15m is a good price and we had been apparently interested in him for nearly a year but united had interest too. couple that with his performance against them on saturday and their lack of options in that area, i was starting to think we could have ended up getting shut out as i'm sure he would've chosen us over united, plus they'd easily have matched or broken our wages and can't see why he wouldn't have started for united either.

i don't want to cause any friction, this question is to united fans out of complete curiosity, do you believe dembele would've been a starter @ united?

lloris should be done soon methinks. anyone out of willian, m'vila would be nice, a dream would be damiao and moutinho.

Fergie doesnt find the talent. He just executes a buy order once the talent is dangled in front of his face.

He didnt want ronaldo, it was the team who forced him into it.

When we played people like Luke Chadwick for 25 games and bellion for 3 years, you have to understand that fergies transfers are often like a russian roulette. When you buy as many expensive players as he does, some have to be good.

Look at newcastle, no way do they have Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cisse, ba, Krul, for the prices they paid. Instead we were out taking a punt on Obertan, Bebe, ashley young:(::(.

Angelo Henriquez and Alex Büttner start for the Manchester United reserves against Tottenham tonight.

If anyone is interested!

(I put it in here as it's the most viewed thread and doesn't really fit any others)

Archer; Smith, Caulker, Hall, Byrne; Carroll, Mason; Falque, Kane, Townsend; Obika.

Ones to look out for
Smith - Right back who will push Walker all the way in a year or 2.
Caulker - known from his time at Swansea
Carroll - An English Modric type of player, good vision and distribution
Mason - again a great prospect
Falque came from Juve, moments of brilliance or absolute turd.
Kane and Townsend known from time on loan and a few appearances for the first team

Not a bad line up, should be good!

EDIT

Our subs at MU - Ceballos (Came from Barca, tricky little dribbler), Vigouroux, Stewart (People speak highly of him), Veljkovic. MU include summer signings Buttner and Powell, plus Fletcher, Evans, Lindegaard.

Dont know our other 2 subs at all

Yep, I think he'd slot in nicely alongside Carrick.

Duncan Castles on Berbatov to Juventus, says it's a done deal for £4.5m: sulia.com/channel/soccer/f/db0782f6-a325-4c86-b9ef-9ee7827dd72b

Manchester United agree to sell Dimitar Berbatov to Juventus for £4.5m.

Juventus have resolved their long search for a striker by agreeing a deal to take Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United. The Bulgaria international, a £30million signing from Tottenham in the summer of 2008, had been available for transfer for more than a year as Sir Alex Ferguson lost faith in his effectiveness.

United's attempts to offload the final year of Berbatov's contract appeared to have been resolved by the acceptance of an offer from Fiorentina. In fact, the 31-year-old was in Munich waiting for a flight to Florence to complete his medical when Juventus called to redirect him to Turin.
