I just hope Fulham get in at least two signings tomorrow so we're not screwed on deadline day. We missed out on Gignac due to running out of time last season.

If the Berbatov rumour is true (doubtful) it'll be €4.5m (over 2 years) and a 3-year deal worth €1.8m/year. Sounds too good to be true, so he'll probably sign for someone else now :p

The Telegraph and Times are both reporting that Stoke are in for Adam for ~£5m and that if and when he (and Spearing leave) leaves, we'll bid for Dempsey. The Telegraph are also reporting that we'll also bid for Walcott if Carroll can be persuaded to join West Ham.

Fiorentina Statement said:
"ACF Fiorentina announces that it missed the acquisition of the player Dimitar Berbatov after we had reached an agreement with Manchester United & a verbal understanding with the player on his contract.

During today, the English club had granted him written permission to travel to Florence for medical & sign a contract. The player - accompanied by his agent - embarked on a flight to Florence with tickets paid for by the club.

But the player never arrived in Florence because of reckless & arrogant actions of other clubs which have nothing to do with the values of honesty, fair play & sporting ethics which lie beyond the boundaries of loyalty.

As for the player - notwithstanding his characteristics & technical merit - at this point we are happy that he did not come to Fiorentina as he is not worthy of our city, our shirt and the values it represents."

Nothing new for Berbatov. He was meant to be traveling to Manchester to talk to City when he signed for Utd.

lol it would be nothing new for Berbatov had he signed for City rather than United who had tracked him all summer

Interesting developments nonetheless

I know he had been tracked by Utd all summer however when he traveled to Manchester, City were the ones that had agreed a deal with Spurs, not Utd. Taggart just kidnapped him and locked him up at OT until Levy folded.

That's nothing to do with Berbatov then :p

Well, only if you believe that he really was kidnapped. I wouldn't put anything past Taggart - no doubt Neville helped tie him up.

edit: I was actually reading the other day how Emanuelle Petit arrived in London to talk to Spurs and after his meeting, Spurs paid for a taxi home for him but instead of going home, he went and spoke to Arsenal and signed for them.

Personally I dont believe he was ever on his way to talk to City I was just playing along with your interpretation of events ;)

Yea, I kind of guessed that you didn't think he was actually kidnapped ;)

Either way though, he traveled to Manchester to meet Utd when Spurs had accepted an offer from City and not Utd, at the time.

Well, you can't blame him.

Though I am slightly embarrassed by how Fergie has treated him. Extremely bizarre.
