I await the barrage of Manyoo fans crying about me saying this, but...
You're happy with Welbeck being the main striker?
Absolutely not. He's mostly rubbish.

Yes we've 'never' had an out and out defensive midfielder. But how useful would that have been against City, Bilbao, Ajax, Benfica, Barcelona etc when we're being dominated in midfield? Fact is we've got maybe one player in the entire squad who can half play that role against lesser teams (I'm excluding Fletcher as who know when he'll be back and whether he can get back to playing a part)
If you've got players who can keep the ball then you dont need a defensive midfielder, Busquets for example isn't this loon that flies into tackles left right and centre he does what Carrick does; sits in front of the back 4 intercepts the ball and moves it on, only difference being against City (for example) Carrick and Scholes were giving it to Park and Giggs instead of players who can keep the ball as well as they can.
The problem we've had this season in every single game where we've lost out possession wise is that once Scholes and Carrick have released the ball it's the players ahead of them that haven't been able to retain it, whether that be Rooney or whoever's playing on the wings.
We really need to move away from the 4-4-2 though and play 3 in the middle; Scholes, Carrick and Modric (for example) could keep the ball for fun between the 3 of them and with the latter being far more dynamic could help link play further forward unlike looking up and having to give it to Park/Giggs![]()
Carrick is never positive enough for my liking. Whenever you watch the best teams play they will play hard passes 20-30 yards from the centre of midfield along the ground to the strikers. The number of times he could have sent a pass that cut the opposition to pieces a la Silva is frustrating to say the least.
Instead of playing that he will wrap his foot over the ball, slow it down and pass back or sideways.
for the 10/11 and 11/12 seasons
name - goals/assists
scholes - 5/4
carrick - 2/4
modric - 9/6
total - 16/14
silva - 23/34
toure - 21/15
mata - 12/18
lampard - 29/15
If you want a DM, could Phil Jones play there? I know he's meant to be some amazing CB prospect, in the future, but for now? Does he have the discipline/ability?
Why on earth anyone would want us to spend the little money we have on Luka Modric is baffling.
I think it's hilarious that anyone could think a midfield consisting of Scholes, Carrick and Modric is capable of winning the title.
Yeah, I realise that... but your post doesn't answer my questions!
Is Hazard not joining Chelsea? I thought I read it on his Twitter, along with pictures of his name on a Chelsea shirt. Ah, that's not *his* one.![]()
Looks like the 5pm Announcement rumour might have being Cech signing a new deal.
Fail!![]()
@RorySmithTimes
David Gill, Brian Marwood and Ron Gourlay have all left their lights on. Eden, the power's in your hands. #nolikeynolighty
A team with the midfield of Carrick & Giggs won the title in 10/11
A team with the midfield of Carrick & Scholes finished level on points with the title winners in 11/12
I think it's hilarious that people rely on stats to argue their weak argument

Fail indeed! I never use Twitter.![]()
Would be pretty funny if he ended up coming to Arsenal.![]()
