He wouldn't want to bench warm/rotate either I imagine. Especially when he could join a place like Arsenal (as has been reported).

City have Tevez, Aguero and Balotelli (discounting Dzeko) who are all technically 'pure' strikers, and the first two at least won't be happy on the bench, why add to that?

lol, Dzeko started 16 and subbed in 14 games, Chamakh started 1 and subbed in 10 games, only started 1600% more games.

Sure Lorente would decide half the money and being back up to RVP is far more desirable than being in actual rotation at City, on twice the money, and actually winning things...... sure.

If we lose RVP, things change, but so do our chances of being top four, and City become a better place for Lorente to go.

What I said was based on the assumption that RvP leaves. He'd be your number one striker then.

I thought that would be obvious.

Bosman list here: http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...gue-bosman-list-didier-drogba-all-the-players

Highlights for me would be:

-Arshavin (obvious talent just has been inconsistent over the past two seasons)
-Hoilett (seems talented although I think his age means some sort of tribunal fee would apply)
-Jaaskelainen (maybe worth it for any team in the market for a backup keeper)
-Boswinga (useful attacking fullback still in his 20s, not the greatest of late, wages could be an issue)
-Drogba ('nuff said)
-Owen (possibly worth a punt in a pay-as-you-play deal, his great positioning means he is still capable of grabbing goals)
-Harper (much like Jaskelainen, established pro you could rely on as a backup keeper)
-Woodgate (real quality when strings a few games together, worth it for somebody surely?)
-Gordon (Still in his 20s a good age for a keeper, personally I'd like to see Arsenal a club he was linked with before joining Sunderland snap him up as we have 3 keepers out of contract, think he might want to move somewhere where he will be first choice though)
-Kirkland (fitness main thing holding him back)
-Rodellega (proven record of goal-getting in the Prem at a lesser team, maybe worth considering for the likes of say Reading?)
-Reo-Coker (I know a lot of people don't rate him but I don't think there are many better English DMs outside the Prem, he's got a bit about him, captain of Wimbledon as a teenager remember)

Edit: interesting that quite a few on my shortlist have questionable injury records, which perhaps gives an indication as to why they are out of contract... :)

Kirkland has gone to Wednesday ;)

Harper couldn't save a word document... (a silly joke that's stuck)

Hoilett is supposed to be a 3m tribunal fee which would be amazing for almost any prem team (I want him at saints personally).

Reo-Coker would be good in the middle of the park.

Pretty much everyone else has injury problems or massive wages sadly (wouldn't say no to Arshavin but there's no way we could afford him)

And despite what the entire internet thinks, southampton will not be signing Owen! (it's been the running saints web joke for 3 years now)

Andy Johnson is on this list too! :( willing to bet he'd end up at Reading or West Ham

I read the Dzeko story myself a minute ago and if it's true you cant blame people for hating on City and their spending, here's a player you paid god knows how much to get and you're selling him (allegedly) after a season and a half? Seems a bit flippant to me. He's not a great player but he is a good goal scorer... personally I call BS on that story but we'll see.

Last I heard Higuain if Mourinho lets him go with be headed to PSG, I doubt Falcao will be leaving Madrid either (not after one season). Dunno what to make of the Tevez situation at the moment, all that's being said these days about him is that he's now happy at City and will stay
I don't think we want to sell him. It is more a case of him wanting to leave because of lack of playing time and the fact that in this team he struggles. Move to Bayern and he gets world class service from Robben and Ribery.
His agent in Bosnia has rubbished the rumours but we will see. This is what Bayern did with Boateng, agree personal terms then come with a fee touting the player will only join us etc so you better sell him.

i think tevez, ballotelli and dzeko will all be leaving, especially tevez
We are not going to sell 3 strikers this season. Balotelli is going nowhere and only one of Dzeko and Tevez will leave. We can not afford to go into next season with just Aguero as a prem proven striker.

I think Dzeko will leave and we will keep Tevez, Balo and Aguero.

I'd take a punt on Arshavin and obviously Drogba, given wages aren't a huge issue.

Arshavin when started consistently is a top player, he lost confidence in the team because the team stopped playing him. Wenger's done it to so many players now. He was banging in a few goals with plenty of assists while Nasri was **** for 89 mins, got a goal, got called great by the media, and he only managed that for half a season. Nasri got awful past december, which is when Arshavin got dropped, where do you think plenty of the build up play came from with Nasri hanging around the box doing none of the hard work.

After being dropped, and then played completely inconsistently, and dropped for the particularly **** players he was dropped for, he just stopped giving a damn at all.

I'd love to keep him at Arsenal, have the fans back him and Wenger play him fairly, it won't happen, would love to seem him go anywhere in the league and get the same, but I can see him only wanting to go home now :(

I have seen him a few times in the CL and he has never looked that great. The ridiculous release clause in his contract always amazed me. Hes a good player but I wouldn't want to spend more than £25 million or so.

Don't rate him, not for the money he'll cost anyway.
You don't rate Hulk?!?

I believe quite a few people aren't convinced, read the articles I linked below, but the short summary is: he's poor in big games and under pressure, a poor finisher, and only looked good because of Falcao...

http://thepremierleagueowl.com/warning-chelsea-off-hulk/

I'm not sure £30M-£40M for Hulk is a rational decision with the financial fair play rules.

I've only ever seen him in champs league games and he's only ever looked average to me. Can't believe anyone would pay over £15,000,000 for him.

I kind of assumed that I hadn't seen enough of him but it seems others share the same sentiment as me. I would love to see Falcao in the PL, he looks like a monster in front of goal.

i think arshavin could hit some peak performance at spurs, would be worth a punt.

drogba would never come though woodgate could be beneficial if he could stay fit and shift a bit of timber.

hoillet has been on spurs radar for a while now.

If you could ditch VDV for 12 mil and pick up Arshavin for half that, or less, it would be a no brainer, I think he'd do better, he'd suit the position perfectly. Though in all honesty, he'd make a better attacking Modric as well, especially for games where Harry ends up going 5 in midfield, Parker/Sando behind between them and a striker.

Like I said, would love to see him do well in this league as he's been given plenty of massively unwarranted stick, his form only went away after Wenger decided he wasn't a main player any more out of the blue.

I said at the time, Nasri was a selfish **** who brought little to the team and I felt like he was a good player to offload rather than give a big contract to, instead of back Arshavin though, we backed Nasri, who has always had an attitude issue, tank the better players form, backing the a-hole who left anyway, well done Wenger.

Spurs need anything but a temperamental defender, younger and fit as a fiddle, anything else and Redknapps an idiot.

Never rated Hulk as mentioned not for that money!

Giroud being allowed to leave Montpellier if they receive the right bids (think its release clause is like 12.8 million) i hope there is truth in the 6.4 million bid + Chamackh we offered!

Chelsea are making some nice signings/potential signings. But they all mean nothing without the right manager.

There's been absolutely no indication of who it might be either. I'm still inclined to think it might be Pep which is why it is all so quiet... they aren't causing any waves.
