Pretty great stuff if that's true. Glad that United and City wouldn't allow their pants to be pulled down.

Manchester United prepare bumper contract offer for Kagawa
The Old Trafford club are reportedly close to agreeing a £17.6m deal and will offer the Japanese midfielder a lucrative image rights package to meet his £100,000-a-week wages
Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa after missing out on Eden Hazard and are preparing a lucrative contract offer to secure the midfielder's signature.
The two clubs are understood to be in advanced talks over a deal for the Japanese midfielder, with reports in Germany suggesting United have made an improved offer worth up to £17.6 million (€22m) including add-ons following an initial £13.6m bid lodged last week.
According to reports in Germany, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that “both sides want to conclude the deal” while sporting director Michael Zorc told Kicker “the transfer is not done yet.”
Goal.com understands the main stumbling block is now Kagawa’s £100,000-a-week wage demands but United are confident of agreeing a deal by offering a lucrative commercial agreement, on top of a sizeable basic salary, that will see the 23-year-old earn money from image rights linked to Far East earnings.
Kagawa recently admitted to meeting with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson over a move and is certain to leave the German champions this summer as he has just one year remaining on his contract.
The Bundesliga outfit are resigned to losing the midfielder, and their CEO has confirmed that a move is close, telling Derwesten: "Both sides want to conclude the deal."

Well, it's reportedly just under £9m/year, so nigh on £9m would be a better figure to say, but hey-ho! Does that mean we can boost any reported wages of Manyoo players by ~11%, when it suits us (read: when we want to be critical of Manyoo)?
More Kagawa information, it's looking pretty likely now.

Call me a cynic but 24 hours after losing out on Hazard the Kagawa deal starts moving forward after days of nothing..... sounds like we know who was first choice and who was the backup![]()
Errr you sound surprised?
I was going off the Telegraph article he was talking about, which said just under £9m (170k*52 = 8.84m)... so I think he misread it, or certainly read it differently to me. I then gave the percentage difference between the £9m figure they mentioned, and the £10m you did.

I sound surprised about what? Kagawa potentially being second choice? No I'm not surprised at all, doesn't mean I dont feel bad for him though. If I were him I'd tell us where to go and sign for Arsenal out of principle.
I just used a tax calculator app on my phone![]()
