• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

ALL READ - Zero Tolerance Policy - Any more blatant rule breaking = BAN !!

I have had a thread deleted in the past based on the "competitor" ruling. The bizarre and stupid thing was that the thread clearly said that the product was bought from OcUK !!!

I have also had a seven day ban for pointing out consumer rights to an OcUK customer even though there are threads on the forums tellng people of thier consumer rights.

Also the fact that the forums are sterile to anything bad said against OcUK should be enough to alert most people.

For the record I do agree that the following are wrong:

Posting a link to a product that is sold for less with a competitor.
Telling people where product X can be bought for less.

Why is it not OK to say i don't buy from X anymore becasue the price/service of OcUK is better, surely that is what you want!

Oh and finally do OcUK refuse money of people who they ban from the forums?

Ehh you must be kidding me... what were you pointing out?

It is interesting reading the comments, The forum should reflect the intent, well being, mission and behavour of OCUK....
They are simple but should be made 100% reading before people sign up.
And the note Gibbo put out should be included in all topic areas, otherwise (as I have seen) some still push the rules too far.

ARGHHH !!!

CLOSE THIS THREAD.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW THE RULES WORK BY NOW THEN YOU DESERVE SUSPENDING SO YOU HAVE TIME TO READ THEM

Deep breaths and step away from the keyboard. :D

Its a simple rule, no competitors, no shop talk like RMA's etc... as only the shop can deal with those, if thats to hard for some ppl then they should'nt be on here. :p

That when you buy a product your contract is with the company you bought it from not the manufacturer.

For the record i have never had an issue with any product or service from OcUK.

Surely you can't have been banned for just that it seems a bit hard to believe...

I have pointed out similar things, and also about bypassing the retailler to get a quicker result with some manufacturers if you are so inclined.

It was more than likely that either it was phrased horibbly wrong or someone else in the thread had caused it to warrant deletion.

Some people are over reacting a little.

You know how for some hardware on ocuk, it says warranties are all dealt with direct with the manufacturer?

Isn't that a bit naughty? A lot of people think that they have no comeback with ocuk?

I know its only an option, but it implies that its not...some people here even aren't aware!

You talk a lot of sense for a 13 year old Yewen;), and have helped me out in the past with my lovely Akasa 62 Eclipse!

I find the no-competitor rule straightforward, but it has certainly generated a lot of quibbling over details. I don't think it is relevant whether I agree with it or not. I also prefer the old website (probably because of familiarity), which seems to have come back again!

I think I moofed once when I first posted, and learnt rather quickly after that...

It is only one really the one rule, it is not unreasonable to ask you not to post competitors on a shop forum.

I have been here for a lot longer than my join date, if a 13 year old can refrain from posting and asking for competitors then I think the majority of the so called adults on this board can aswell. It is not like the rule is new. :)

Maybe so but I see horrible things said on this forum on a daily basis, from people wishing people die of cancer to racist/xenophobic remarks... seems odd, and a little suspicious, that someone could get a 7 day ban for pointing out something as innocuous as consumer rights.
