Hey guys,
I was planning to buy an X360 and TDU, but when I played PGR3 on the demo system I noticed quite a few jaggies that I thought needed anti-aliasing bady. Thinking that it was just a glitch in the demo or something, I asked the sales assistant if he could put TDU just as a quick comparison. After a couple of minutes of gameplay I pretty much was suprised at the need of anti-aliasing in the game. Being a little bit shocked I told the guy that I'd pop back in tomoz.

After reading a couple more reviews of X360 games, I still don't really understand why the games left me a bit 'let down'. The reviews I read claim the graphics great, but I didn't really feel that they were mind blowing. I might have been expecting too much but still feel the desire to get one (and probably will). What do you guys reckon? Were my expectations too high and what do you think about your 360?

BTW, this isn't a rant or anything...I just would like to know your opinions.

I suppose it depends on what system it was being shown on, and if it was actually running in HD/using VGA or component etc. Also if you're stood with your nose touching the screen like most demo pods I've seen it deffinately won't help :)

The graphics on my dell 2407 aren't that great at 720p or 1080i. I suspect I need a vga cable to get the most out of the screen. However, on my 32" sharp HD set, the picture is fantastic, with no noticable jaggies (at least from more than 2 feet away)

Thanks for the comments so far guys...lol just after looking at all the screenshots etc, I was kinda just shocked at the jaggies.

Keep the comments coming :)

I notice the jaggies on my 2405fpw with PGR3 (running component) but im told its less noticable with a VGA cable.

All other games look great though. It's only PGR3 which doesn't look that impressive.

Get a game like Burnout.

Ive only played the demo but its great! I cant even remember how the graphics are on that game, im too busy trying to get everyone off the track! :D

The effects are good though, i know that much as when you crash you can watch it in slowmo :)

Some games have bad jaggies others are not so bad.
There was also talk of a lot of the demo kiosks being set up wrong etc, but yeah PGR3 has a lot of Jaggies, all the screenshots they tend to show are in photomode which is kinda cheating.

But some are fine, some are dissapointing

Burnout is what the 360 is about in terms of gameplay and graphics. I hadn't played it in a while and I was amazed with the graphics when I went back to it. The detail is amazing.

TBH things are only going to get better, I mean look at the original xbox. The graphics were still improving on that when the 360 came out (again burnout is a good example)

The PGR3 pack with full system and extra pad for £300 is too good to miss. Get it bought :p

I play on a 32" HDTV over component and before that at 480p on a 32" CRT screen and I never noticed 'jaggies' tbh. I loved PGR3 as a launch title and if you check here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17626629 you can see it's still a firm favourite of OcUK forums.

I still think the graphics are tremendous and a big step up from the PS2/XBox generation. I had real trouble playing Halo 2, I found the resolution hard on the eye but I find the games on the 360 a real revelation.

I sometimes think people have had their expectations over-hyped graphics wise for this gen. Remember a basic 360 is £200 (ok £300 realisticly); for what you get it's a real bargain.

360 Jaggies ...

Each store set up their 360 differently and it is likely that the one you are looking at is set up badly. Quite simply if they have not switched the component cable to HDTV iregardless of TV and console settings the output will be 480i

There are many factors in the 360 set up that will cause jaggies.

But trust me if you have a decent TV at home then you will not experience any Jaggies.

I am on a 32" 480p tv at home and am yet to notice any major Jaggies. I have seen some on a 480i 4:3 TV though but they were not show stoppers.

On my dads 50" 720p plasma, I was completely blown away. I wish I could play on that TV every day.

I suggest you buy a PC. Then you can spend hours/days/months tweaking options until you have it nearly as you would like it. Meanwhile 360 owners will be playing and enjoying the game.

lol, as other users have stated 'gameplay > graphics' and I do agree with that. I was just a little suprised when I saw the 360's graphics today and was wondering wether that was just me or have other users noticed the jaggies.
