Always thought PC gaming was losing to the Consoles...

whats all this tosh about big budget games. Don't really care how much they spent on making it. Halo 3 must have been expensive to make but it doesn't polish that turd. PC's and console's have their own market and i don't think 1 will take over the other 1. Steam is the future off game delivery and will help cut piracy. If pc gaming is so dead then how come there still 1000's of bf2 players about. The same can be said for many games. Mods are another thing to consider when estimating the health of pc gaming.

10% of the entire yearly revenue of PC games is World of Warcraft.

It's just MMORPG's and casual games. PC gaming is dying, this BS by hardware developers doesn't really change that.

By "PC gaming" I mean big budget PC exclusive games. There will always be MMO's, Indy Games and ports.

No developer with half a brain would make a BIG BUDGET PC ONLY game these days...

They cross the platforms to reduce the risk of losing money. At worst you are gonna see it on an X-box, and in reality a lot more platforms.

The major issue I believe with the PC is the minimum hardware requirements needed to run a modern game. Take Crysis for instance, it looks very pretty but still a generic fps in my opinion. If you look at CoD4, the game was much more scalable for older computers but it was the twist on the fps genre that sold the game well - penetration ammo, jumping over walls, storyline, and essentially the online play.

A few years ago, Company of heroes pushed the boundary for rts with its inclusion of ragdoll physics and new ideas such as troop cover behind walls. The game is still voted the best rts by many gamers and will probably remain top rts for a few years to come.

What I feel the gaming community needs to do is slow down the eye-candy technology for future games and concentrate on developing new games with fresher ideas, fewer bugs and with better individuality to the pc than just another console port.

Finally, I fear that if mmo games such as WoW and Eve were ported to consoles, then we might see the death of PC gaming.

So come on you developers, bring back DX10 flight sims, re-write Syndicate and Populous for the new generation and bring out that WoW beater mmo we have all been waiting for... Star Wars Eve Online: World of Wookies (tm).

And despite all that the PC still has more exclusives than both the PS3 and Xbox360. (Probably combined).
