Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I am going to have to pay their prices for the new 2007 on their site ???? !!!!

Yep I am afraid so, unless DELL have a change of mind or we can think of a way round it then it will mean DELL can only be purchased from DELL at full prices.

This will also mean that once we have sold out of DELL they will become a competitor and discussion about them will be banned from the forums.

Surely you don't mean we won't be able to talk about their screens? As in when the 2407 comes out, it'll be a banned topic?

I dont know really, but ill be surprised if OcUK totally stop discussion. Its just another screen after all. Probably eb a case with games etc, discuss but dont recommend where to buy etc. Dont know though as last time a dell ban happened it caused a right upstart.

Yeah, I imagine will be worse if they completely ban all discussion about them again. Kinda difficult for ocuk really - this is going to be a tricky position, they have to be consistant I suppose, but I imagine it's going to annoy most people on the forums not to be able to talk about them at all tbh.

I for one, am awaiting their revised versions of their screens and I was releying on these forums to inform me about them.

'Tis a big shame in every way... silly Dell  :( :p

While i understand this, perhaps you should mention that to Dell. If people can't discuss their products and give them good reviews, this could mean them losing potential sales, even if its through third party dealers.

Perhaps a mention of the forums links on here, and indeed this thread might change their mind.

While I agree with you claw - the problem is there is a lot of accurate but harsh things said about some Dell Monitors - ie the notorious backlight bleed on the 2005fpw which might not go down well

Hope OCUK can come to some arrangement again - I just recieved my Insurance cheque this morning just too late to get a 24" for a very decent price

Hmm surely they're selling more now that othe sites are selling them? I know they are cheaper but who will realistically play the good part of a grand for a monitor when it was only around £700 for a good part - I wouldnt worry chances are the prices will drop.

At £750 they are a good price, but i can see very few peopel being willing to pay £900 for one. Its just Dell being greedy to be honest.

It's not Dell saying you can't discuss their monitors here, it's an OcUK rule that they don't allow discussion about competitors. It is their forum afterall and they don't want "you can buy xxx monitor £50 cheaper elsewhere" threads on here since it would cost them business. And once they stop selling Dells, Dell will become a direct competitor again. OcUK won't want you to buy a Dell at that point since it means you won't have bought from OcUK. Also for the same reason they wouldn't want threads comparing Dell monitors to the similar products which OcUK stock.

yey got one for £600 but its being used as a secondary monitor to my laptop as i havent got my main machine yet :(

Very good point, but I would have thought that the cat is out of the bag now. Everybody knows about Dell monitors and that they have a new 30" widescreen monitor and that the 2007fpw and 2407fpw are to be released shortly, so if people can't get information about them here, they may simply find another forum where they can.

I would have to say though, that due to the price hikes, I would think twice about getting one now anyway, even if the new screens turn out to be very good.

Edit: Looking at the monitors forum, I count no less than 8 threads on the first page alone which specifically mention Dell or model numbers of Dell monitors in the thread title!

lucky i bought my 3007 when I did! saved myself £300- but it is a shame that the 24 inch has gone up, that was a damn good monitor for the price. Too bad I sold it to my buddy for £400. Yes, I am stupid!

Gibbo said Dell references would be banned only once OcUK have sold their current stock of Dell monitors.

Which is completly stupid.

They don't sell several brands of screen (not to mention other hardware). None of those are banned topics.
