Am I going mad? OcUK prices...

Are OCUK going to point out to Dell that theyl have probably sold more than 10 times the amount of 2407's they would have done via sites such as this as opposed to from their site alone?

Probably not as that is almost definately why Dell are not allowing their monitors to be sold cheaply elsewhere anymore.

Dell must have worked out that OCUK & others could shift a lot of stock & their own sales were poor in comparision because the same products were being sold elsewhere for a much better price.

I just don't get it, surely Dell is making money by letting 3rd party retailers sell it. They are not stupid enough to make lost on it. So by removing that completely, how is that good for business? If people are going to buy it from them, they will need to reduce their prices considering now people know how cheap they can be retail for.

a lot of things have went up. I payed £140 for my mp3 player, they want £155 for it now. Also my GFX card, cost me £220 and a few weeks later it was £240.

Im guessing it just as the suppliers change their prices, OcUK needs to alter theirs to adapt, but an extra £200 is a fair wedge  Last i looked the 2405 was about £660, but i think that was on special.

I got mine for £640 bout month ago

I'll get clarification from Spie about the Dell thing, it'd be a shame to end discussion of them just because of Dells stupid decision. Hopefully they'll come to their senses and change their mind.

This past few months Dell have been doing a massive amount of TV advertising to the retail customer, it must be taking off for them, so they are taking advantage of the much bigger market while they can. As soon as sales start to fall they will look for third party agents to retail for them again.

That may partly be the reason, but i dont think very many retail customers would be interested in 24-30" monitors. Specialist retailers would almost certainly sell far more.

So let me get this straight.

If this all goes ahead and OcUK stop selling Dell products, does that mean we can't even talk about our Dell monitors that we have etc...

They are still a manufacturer and it's not going to hinder any sales for OcUK if you aren't selling no products of theirs.

So are Apple but you sell mp3 players and they are fine to talk about etc...

I do think it's a bit stupid.

If you're not selling Dell products, it's not going to effect sales for OcUK, as you won't be selling the products made by them anyway, so you're losing out whether people talk about them or not.

6K for the 30" WTH is going on?
It's £1500 for the 30" i believe.

Two months ago Dell monitors were hundreds of pounds cheaper than they are now. This is not about whether you can afford the new prices or not, this is about standing up to greedy corporate incompetence by not buying there over priced hardware. DONT BUY FROM DELL, that's my protest song.

If Dell didn't want this to happen, they should never have sold there monitors for cheap. They've messed up big time by doing this and i hope they suffer because of it.

I think they probably will, I would imagine that in a few months, their prices will drop significantly and/or they'll start looking to 3rd party retailers again when they realise that no-one is buying their over-priced monitors

Just my look, i was thinking of ordering my new 2405 when i get paid on friday, lol i thought 650 was too much aswell. No chance now lol, dell can errr...well i dont wanna say it, its too rude!
