Am I racist?

While racism on and off the pitch is an issue, racism, be it in the form of monkey chants, banana throwing, etc, is part of a bigger problem, and that's crowd control and behaviour.

For example; goalkeepers get screamed at, abused, have missiles thrown at them, but you don't see a "Goalkeepers' Union" being formed?

Honestly I don't think that most comments that people consider racist ever actually have any racist intent behind them, it's simply a comment that is meant to offend the person they're saying it to and will get the biggest reaction if this makes any sense :p.

oh im sure some do, but its just name calling, take football for instance, do people honestly think there going to stamp out comments at a football match?
Wake up and smell the coffee!!

Black people have this ingrained persecution type chip on there shoulder, which stems from there history im afraid, not all i grant you.

for instance if you were a white footballer and the crowd was predominantly coloured, and was chanting ,,, get off the pitch ********* and chucking mushy peas and used tea bags at you,, would you be offended?

Ahem. ;

If you're going to triple post then at least make your posts interesting and less accepting of racism.
And that is exactly what people have to do, accept it and move on.

I don't particularly care about their 'black' organisations. If they feel they need it or think that it's good for the advancement of relations, more power to them.

Would be fun however to see just once a 'white' organisation. Oh the squealing .. It'll be great, purely for LoLs

Yet sadly racism and bigotry is still rampant in society (As is bullying and other offence nasty behaviour) . Obviously we need to try much harder to stamp it ALL out!!

And it'll ALWAYS be that way. It's only stupid people that believe otherwise. If anything, it's gotten worse again. I hear far more racist remarks these days than I did in the past. People are going to so what people are going to do. No amount of stupid slogans, t-shirts or political/FA statements are going to change that.

True. Whites are not given a job based on the colour of their skin unlike the 'positive discrimination' and quota benefitees.

No but a white person might get a job because the person hiring someone may be a racist.

I'll start by saying I don't think I am! I think I'm open minded about most things, so why am I uncomfortable with a black players football association? Why have I always had an issue with the mobo's (music of black origin). I know there would be outrage if there was a call for an all whites football players association or a music or white origin award....so I ask do others think this way? I have many Filipino and black friends, I love them dearly, but I still feel this way. I'm part of the human race, I really don't give 2 hoots what colour you are.

Any how just my 2 pence....this world is a strange place sometimes.

Its just a voice to represent a minority group I fail to see how that is racist in any way. Positive discrimination quotas are another thing all together and something I strongly disagree with and Im a fat Chinaman

My only problem with these groups is that it seems to make out that one kind of discrimination is better/worse than another.

The average ginger person endures considerably more abuse, fat people/short people & bald people get insulted & paid less than the "standard" counter-part (proven).

Ugly fat women (of any race) have to put up with some disgusting levels of abuse from all facets of society.

I fail to see why people should only get protection based on racial groups or sexuality.

The south park about hate crime puts it better than I could.

no you aren't. people calling for a black players union are discriminating and as such are racist

I disagree. I, like yourself and rotters am uncomfortable with a black players football association as I wish there wasn't a need for one. Despite my hopes, racism is still a big problem in Europe and indeed the world and this needs to be kept in the spotlight. We can never combat racism unless everyone believes in equality as I do, but we're not there yet and not even close. If there weren't organisations such as this do you really think that racism would die of it's own accord?

I don't see people with different skin as being any different,

correct so why do they want a seperate organisation? time for folks to get a grip and realise that this sort of thing only makes it all worse

there need to be organisations with the aim of integrating not discriminating and by setting up one whose membership is based on race then that is all they are doing

You may not see it as a problem, but that doesn't mean that it's not still a significant problem.
