AM4 5600X3D in the making

The full 192MB 3D cache is better than the 7950X3D which only has one 3D stacked CCD so 96MB 3D cache.
If this gets released, we will have yet another performance point, to add to, for example, the Fallout 4 benchmark thread:

Well if they do release a 5900X3D I may hang on to AM4 for a few more years. Currently rocking the 5900X and its fab for everything I do but as I have a load of VM's etc for work I am reluctant to drop a 5800X3D in and was thinking I may upgrade next year however may not need to if they sort that out.

They’ve been 8 core since the PS4/Xbox One era though, although I get the point a fast 6 core is still a competent gaming CPU.

There’s a LOT of AM4 computers out there where a 5600x3d would be a really nice gaming focused upgrade.
Xbox-X is only a Zen 2 running at 3.6Ghz though. A Zen3 6 core with V cache will easily beat it.

Eg a 5600X 6 core beats a 8 core 3800X easily in games, and the Xbox chip is several 100 Mhz slower.

But will it readily enough beat it to double future 30fps console capped (not just Starfield) games to 60fps? Will the extra 1 or 2 cores of the 5800x3D be worth it?

From some of the recent leaker reports, the 5600x3d might be oem only, making this a moot point.

The 5600X3D is going to be a limited product only sold at Micro Center

Pointless - lots of games that CHOKE on 6 core CPU's. I used a 7600 (nonX) for a few days with a 4090 - literally sat with 6 core's at 100% usage all the time, with terrible 1% lows. A 7700 (non X) would be infinitely better choice for gaming.
Really, I thought it was processing power not core count that made the difference?

Here is a comparison:

Cant someone simulate this by turning off 2 cores on a 5800x3d and do some benches?
Don't actually know if you can. I know the 5800x3d is much more tightly locked down as apparently too much tweaking could fry the 3d v cache. But i don't know. I did see someone say that reviews would be up next week anyway

These are chips that would be e-waste if not used. And people saying as above it not good cause only 6 cores. People choosing this chip now to updated their AM4 rig aren't on a 4090 and going to be worrying about 100% usage. These will be people on 2000 series GPUs whom at next gen release of GPU might upgrade to a 3080 or 4070 at most and still then the 5600x3D will be fine with that then.

There a lot of people whom stick a few gens behind for budget friendlier gaming and this makes a lot of sense there.

Best way to clear out old am4 mobo stock would have been to release a new apu, 6000 series 8 core with rdna2 gpu is possible since there is a laptop varient.

I’m not not sure the motherboard manufacturers would want to buy a custom APU to sell more motherboards.

Why would motherboard manufacturers want to buy the apu? It would be customers buying the motherboard and the apu to put in it. May also be good drop in replacement for those with older 1st and 2nd gen g series who didn't upgrade to 5700g etc

Because you said it’s the best way for manufacturers to sell more AM4 motherboards?
