AM4 B350/X370 black screen crash thread

Ideally though you'd need another high powered graphics card to test with, if it's some sort of power issue or stress on the PCI-E bus testing with a GT730 is just circumventing the problem. Do you have another system to test your 980Ti in?

Yeah, I know... But how much money am I supposed to throw at figuring this out?

Well like I said I'd just cut your losses and return them under CRA if possible, I've tried my best to help whilst the AMD employees on the forum avoid it. It doesn't matter to me if Ryzen is a success or not I just don't like to see people suffering. :p

I'm going to run anything but the realbench stress test and see how I get on.

With the memory at 2666, which would black screen quickly in rb stress, I can run the benchmark, I can run cinebench and no crash or black screen.

Am going to run AIDA64 for a bit soon and see how goes.

Will then run - wait for it easyrider ;) - prime95.

I'm just wondering if it's unstable overclock on the GPU that's bringing Realbench down, I've had a few factory overclocked cards that just aren't stable at all but if it's reference clocked I doubt it's that.

Maybe just for giggles I'll try upping the gpu voltage.

Wouldn't explain why changing memory speed on platform would have an affect on that though would it?

I guess not, have you tried with only one stick of memory and in each of the different slots? perhaps it's a faulty memory slot on the motherboard or a faulty channel on the memory controller.

Not tried with single memory stick.

Three types of memory on two boards mean only thing left on that front could be the imc.

Currently chugging through 10 runs of the realbench bench (not stress) at 4ghz and memory at 2666mhz.

Seems is just the stress aspect of that maybe???

Crashed again :/
Just ordered Crosshair VI Hero x370, Last one in the country from what I can find.
If this doesn't work then its the cpu. Surely they cannot deny me an RMA if its still crap!

Well, with 3.95ghz at about 1.39, and ram at 2666mhz, got through ten loops of rb. Can cinebench without issue.

But am sure as soon as I try the stress test it'll black out on me.

Beginning to think I should just write off that as a test. But would it mean I run into issues later?

Wish Asus were more on the ball with bios releases - been two weeks since they released one for these boards.

Fresh win10,no random crash until now,i hope to stay that way.Until asus release new bios my r7 1700 will be stock,to be sure that no OC or voltage cause instability.
Realbench ,aida64 and some games ,all are stable with 2133mhz ram.

What are your system details?

And how did you run realbench? Bench run or stress test?

Currently back on 'stock'.

Just checking correlation between voltage and power relative to soc.

Seems the more I up things in those settings, the longer I can run.

Default voltage appears to be 0.085v or so.

At that, fell over quickly.

Offset to +0.15 lasted longer.

Offset to+0.2v with some adjustment to Llc, power phase control, seems to be going longer again.

Be interesting to know what people who aren't failing have for these settings.

My system is r7 1700,asus prime b350plus,hyperx 2133mhz 2x8gb,psu 450W superflower gold, sapphire 290 dual-x ,ssd kingston 240gb+seagate 500gb.Right now i undervolt this cpu from vid stoc 1.187V at offset -0.16V and no crash in 15 min realbench,20-30min. in aida stress.
Prime95 i dont think its good for ryzen and i dont want hours and hours to stress,if i have a crash i up a little volts and use pc normal.Today i want to see if in gta v is stable,i think this game stress average cpu.

LE:For r7 1700 and stock cooler this thread explain verry good what vcore to use,i know that not all cpu are the same, but are really close:

Thanks for the details.

15 min of realbench, especially on lower levels doesn't seem to mean an awful lot. can pass that most of the time. can occasionally pass thirty minutes.

Hell, despite my two 30 min runs earlier, several attempts since have failed in a few minutes.

It's completely random. I can do 30 mins no bother then have it fall over on the next attempt. Sometimes it wont even do 5 minutes.
I can only assume it's the chipset/bios problems. I will update you when my crosshair comes.

I have a few minutes to decide if I try and get 1700x delivered tonight...

How doe syours do if you just run the bench side of RB though? I seem to be fine for that...

I didn't order it. I'm a little tired of forking out.

I may still. Obviously won't be today.

I'm just running a bunch of tests that aren't rb stress.

Just done a loop of 10 benchmarks tests on rb all passed.
Now to stress test it.

Done half an hour aida, 40 mins of rb bench, no black screen.

Just running prime95 for a while. Maybe half an hour /hour.

Really is seeming like specific to the stress test.

But if so, what would that mean?

17 minutes in and it crashed. After passing 10 runs of the benchmark.....
Went into AIDA64 and this

Interesting. When Iran it, I only selected the cpu, cache, fpu.

Going to see what happens when enable the others.

How long before you got that?
