Amazon 1 Click Rant

23 orders last year for amazon, 10 of which were ebooks so I don't think Prime is worth it for me. If I need something desperately I'll pay for next day.

What I do have though is those Amazon 'squid' lockers in a supermarket 2 minutes from my house so I never miss a delivery and it's always free to deliver to those on a 2 day delivery, and the next day is only 1.99 - not 5 or 7.99!

I love the idea of those lockers, I'd go for that option every time except for the fact that there are none near me. I'm assuming they'll get more common with time though as they're a really good idea, albeit they rely on the delivery guy putting the right package in the right locker.

Just had another Prime free trial come up in my account and last my last trial only ended a month ago. My wife's got one too. These constant free trials must surely annoy the people that pay £79 or whatever it is?

Makes it even less worth subscribing to Prime because for the rare months where your household hasn't got a free trial, you can just pay next day ad hoc and still be in the black compared to paying subs (depending on how many next day orders you place, of course).

I've had a case where I never received a delivery email but someone else found my package in theirs instead of their order. However that's out of 100+ locker orders so no too bad, although it was a pain to sort out due to the other recipient being awkward.

In general lockers are great but some items that would easily fit are excluded, in certain cases because an overly large box is used but in most cases for no reason. I presume something on the Amazon system must say the item is larger than it is.

If it wasn't for Amazon lockers Prime would be far less useful as our local Yodel that deliver most other Prime orders are shall we say less than perfect :(

The size of the boxes they use for some things is absolutely laughable, it's rare that the box is less than 3 or 4 times the size of the actual item.
I could understand with fragile stuff that needs plenty of padding but I had a spanner delivered the other day in a box you could fit a laptop in.

Amazon lockers are great, one of the worst decisions in recorded history is when some idiot decided it would be a good idea to deliver things straight to peoples doors, not only greatly increasing delivery costs for everyone but ensuring that most people would not be able to recieve their parcels because (shock horror) people work during the day.

Delivering to local centres is how it should have been done 200 years ago.
