Amazon delivered to a neighbour that doesn't exist

Pretty much knew a crime ref number = instant solution.

The problem is and I know this from someone, Amazon are clamping down on fraud. People basically falsely claiming they didn't receive items etc.

In your case a bit different.... because evidence was solidly in your favor considering whole delivering to a house that doesn't exist.

It's crazy that this took so long to resolve. I had a similar issue, but in my case the item was shown as being delivered to me when in fact it hadn't. I simply notified them through the website and a short time later had the item re-issued.

I would certainly share my frustrations with them if i were you.

As you said above, the more worrying part for you was when the police said they couldn't provide you with a CRN because it was for an address that didn't exist, and at that point Amazon basically said there was nothing further they could do. Frankly that was awful customer service at that point, for a start the contract would have been between Amazon and the courier, so it's not like you could put in a claim against the courier.

Ultimately it just sounds like their CS needs a bit of training for situations like these.

Indeed.

It is bizarre.

"I ordered something and instructed you to deliver it to address A but you delivered it to address B (an address completely unknown to me). Your courier has documented that it was delivered to Address B. Address B does not exist on this planet"

"Sorry nothing we can do"

Ah but did they then insist that they hadn't delivered a meat grinder and had indeed delivered the carpet you requested? Did they go on to then say that the only way to resolve the situation was to have a qualified and certified carpet fitter come out and attempt to fit the meatgrinder/carpet and if they were unable to do so, write a letter explaining the complication, something along the lines of "Unfortunately I was unable to fit this carpet, as it turned out to actually be a meat grinder, I'm sorry, I tried my best guv"?

It wasn't far off, in truth they actually delivered nothing because the driver apparently decided whatever it was was faulty and drove off with it. Not before filling his sheet in with "left in safe place on drive".

It all fell apart for them when it came to light we actually had no drive available as it was covered in a skip and building materials as we were midway through an extension.

When this was explained, along with a photo of said drive to the courier it was magically located in the back of his van. It was only then that we learned it was a meat grinder and not a carpet.

Interesting Amazon delivery today, they rang the bell and I wasn't quick getting to the front door. Driver had left parcel by the door and was taking a photo of it! Interesting development I think. However they have instructions to leave parcels in a large box by the door out of sight.
Andi.

I'm also having an issue with amazon...

Sent back an item worth £850.

Three weeks ago, still no refund.

Turns out Hermes have lost it, and Amazon are refusing to refund me until it arrives -.-...... I used the ONLY shipping option they offered on their return system.

Yea, wonderful. Stupid Amazon.

Blimey, I never realised things were that bad for Man Utd

Ahh i hope they find it.

I had to return something last year, done all the details online and was told Hermes would collect it that evening, they never arrived.

I called up next day and was told the same, waited nobody arrived.
The next day i spoke with Amazon on the phone and the employee arranged for DPD to collect it, as i told them Hermes was terrible and didn't wanna wait.

I'm sure hermes will find it in a few weeks in the back of somebodies car lol

That's odd because usually as soon as the item is scanned/posted etc the refund appears. They don't wait for it to be back with them.

They do for some items, sometimes I get the refund as soon as it's scanned sometimes not. Also they'd have taken it back out when the item didn't arrive anyway.

Ive got nothing but good words for Amazon now, I had an issue with them some years ago. Ordered a few things, that required all of them to come. I paid for next day delivery specifically as I wanted them (it was between xmas and new year).
The delivered all the items bar one, the one missing however was crucial, the rest were literally useless without the missing item. I called them up and they said oh unlucky we will refund your next day fee PRORATA to the value of the goods. Awesome, the item they hadnt delievered was very low value about 98% of the order value had comes. I got something like 15p refunded.

Now they are good, but they deliver regularly. They post if they can, if not safe place, and always do this, although they will deviate if they think the item is better placed in another location when they get round the back.

I did have a time recently I was expecting an order. I was walking down the shared path (4 houses share) at the front out to the road, and as i got to the end I saw a guy looking lost. noticed he had an amazon parcel in his hand and said "oh is that for xx" he said "yeah!" Handed it over and walked off. I thought oh thats slightly dodgy at the time, was a 25% chance someone coming that way would be able to guess the house number.

If it's over a certain value, they want it to arrive at their returns dept before refunding. Which is fair enough... But I didn't make the contract between Hermes and them for return shipping, but they are refusing to budge. They said I must wait 30days before they classify it as lost, which is really annoying as that will mean I pay interest on that money as I paid on my CC

i got a parcel from amazon delivered to my receptionist once

1. i don't have a receptionist
2. thinking they may have delivered it to a neighbour i tried the neighbours houses, with no luck
3. 2 days later i found it stuffed behind a recycling box down the side of the house soaking wet because of the rain

wasn't happy
