Amazon Echo - anyone have one?

Yeah got my £25 Dot delivered today. They should have sent an email to your sonos account email with a code.

I had the marketing emails off on my account though so didn't get it! Emailed sonos with my account details and they sent me a code so even if you haven't had the email you can still get the discount.

Got an email from Sonos with a code for £25 off the Dot. Now, I already have one in the lounge and Sonos speakers in most rooms of the flat, so unsure how much use I would get?

For reference, it’s a 2 bed flat so not exactly a large property!

Has anyone got the Echo Show?

I've got quite a bit of a balance on Amazon and could do with another Alexa. I'm wondering however whether i should buy 2 of the Shows given that they do £100 off so it's only £300 for two of them.

I'd probably want to put one in the bedroom, can you set the screen to turn off easily enough?

Anyone here gone from the Echo Dot to Google Home Mini? I'm considering a switch, just seeing if others have.

I've posted similar in the Google Home thread, but this is a bit more active.

I believe you can turn the screen off with 'Do Not Disturb' I would be interested but only once they've sorted out their spat with Google. Apparently you can't view YouTube on it at the moment.

@FL630 why do you want to switch if you already have echos? I’ve thiught about it but not sure it’s worth it.

As for the show I’m not bothered about YouTube. My thinking is just to show Spotify playlists more than anything!

I only have a single Echo Dot. I use Android, Gmail, Google Calendar, most of my internet things are google-y. I'm not sure there is an advantage to either of them (apart from google home looks loads better), just intrigued if one is better than the other.

I want to get some more Echos for the house (have 1st Gen currently). Has anyone used the 2nd gen and have any feedback? Is the sound quality really bad (not as good as 1st gen)? It’s all I keep reading on the reviews.

Apparently the latest update has fixed a lot of the sound complaints (i don't have one, but most likely grabbing the other half one for xmas, so been keeping an eye on them) it also has a line out unlike the 1st gen, so you can use external speakers
