The figure I quoted relates only to GPs and, as you say, your figure covers appointments with nurses etc.

Which cities with six figure populations have no private GP availability?

Looking at the study quoted that isn't clear, but if £39 was the average then I wouldn't see an issue really.

One example is Lancaster, pop of 146,000. Basically taken over by the trainwreck that is Lancaster medical practice rated 1.9/5 on google, where all the NHS practices have formed a monopoly.

Some highlights.

Got told I had a TB-pos test around October 2021 and at the same time had a cough that would last 3 weeks and disappear for a month then return. They took up until March to ask for spit samples then didn't give me the results/call back/appointment til mid-May to tell me it was Latent. I now have to be on medication for 3 months to stop it progressing to active(which is normal but coulda given it earlier) and they've also completely disregarded my repeated cough- the practice really needs to sort it's staff out in terms of administration.

Has no regards for continuity of care. Constantly told different stories, incorrect information and also my records have been reverted to my old address when I dont live there. Not once have I got an apology for all incorrect information given. Constantly spoken over when I do get a call. LMP doesn't clearly like to be challenged. Even have David Morris MP involved in this matter. Such a shame that there are outstanding GPs but poor, disorganised and rude at times staff/management who do not have patients intrest at heart and override GPs decisions. Thanks to being messed around for over 2 weeks i now have no GP, they have cancelled a key appointment for injection i need.

Have been with Owen Road Surgery for over 62 years, worse move ever made going in with LMP the service is terrible, takes forever to get through. I totally understand they are under so much pressure, but bigger isn’t always better !!!

Absolute disgrace, I would never recommend this doctors after being with them for 23 years , I've been messed around for months ive struggled to get through on the phone lines they seem to always be off. When I do finally get through its well over an hour, a big lack of communication and definitely no people skills they need investigating.

Doesn't even deserve one star. Encourages you to use the app that never has any appointments nor can you select ask reception to call back as they have nothing. Every time I call I'm waiting well over an hour to get through and that's if I don't give up or the call disconnects. The new patient access thing is basically Google...

Refused Repeat Prescription request after nearly 2 weeks of the request pending. Only have type1 diabeties and need insulin to survive. No reason given. GP literally would prefer one of their patients die.

Horrendous You can’t get through, unless you’ve got the day spare to try and get through. Even when you’ve waited 40-60 minutes for the receptionist to answer, you then have to wait for a call back for a possible appointment.

You just cannot get to see or speak to a doctor. I have found that some of the receptionist are very rude especially one I spoke to a couple of weeks ago called Cath

Total shambles, prescriptions to the wrong place, can't get an appointment, over £50 for a short one side doctors letter, grumpy staff, never see your own doctor

Disgraceful practice - avoid at all costs.

Receptionists frequently hang up on you when you try to make an appointment.

How can a service be this bad?

GP only, section 10.3b of the report. £39 for a 9.22 minute consultation whereas private appointments are a minimum of 15 minutes.

I'm not spending ages looking but there's a private GP at The Lancaster Hospital:

Off course those aren't a good read but how representative are they? 33 reviews out of 66,000 patients.

Unfortunately when I enquired with the BMI they said he was unavailable indefinitely due to covid reasons, unless things have perhaps changed in the last couple of weeks. My friend is a retired GP and that was basically the only guy he could offer up as a possible suggestion, it's just good fortune in the first place that there was a private hospital that he could rent out. Oh and that's just the reviews at one of the sites. :D
