Amazon Prime Day 2022

Nowt for me at the moment but i did buy my mum a blink doorbell to go with her camera system. It was discounted from £50 - £35 and also got a Echo Dot in the deal as well..

I think i will be keeping that.. :D

FLIR thermal cameras have got decent discounts - the same price as on black friday. If your house is draughty or badly insulated and you can't borrow one from a local scheme they're a useful investment to find the problem areas. Of course have to weigh up against the amount of insulation you can buy for the same money...

The green are the run of the mill stuff for the odd DIyer, the Bosch for the tradesman is Blue so I would say there is no real deal there.

Amazon prime is not what it once was, you get great deals on Amaon stuff like firesticks etc but the rest of the sellers just put in huge RRps and then fleece you.

I dunno about that. I’ve bought most of my Makita 18v power tools on Amazon, and usually they beat the likes of Screwfix, Toolstation, ITS etc on price, hands down.

There has been a few examples of where Screwfix have won out, 1 was when I was looking at buying 2 BL1850 5.0ah batteries from Makita’s Amazon store for £144, only to find Screwfix had a special offer on a drill that week, which came with 2 5.0ah batteries, charger and case for £139.99.

Sadly don't actually need much at the moment but actually a lot of good deals on stuff I'm generally interested in. Saved 40% (actual over normal price) on some clothing though. Loads of tech stuff has been 20-60% discounted.

Well I ordered a Firecuda 530 SSD and I'm pretty sure the delivery chap has robbed it.

Had this coming today and some wood oil which was ordered somewhere else but being delivered by amazon delivery, both had same estimated delivery time and both left same courier facility at the same time but only the varnish was left on the doorstep.
Just had conformation that the wood oil was delivered at 5pm, SSD delivery window has passed now and its says still arriving by 10pm but it never does I find.

I maybe jumping to conclusions but its too much of a coincidence for both items to have the same delivery window, leaving at the same time from the same facility, for them not to be on the same delivery van. Perhaps the driver just missed the other parcel so I won't full out say its been robbed, not just yet.

What I don't want is for them to say it was delivered and have a picture of it on the doorstep, but don't Amazon deliveries show the conformation of delivery pretty near the delivery time?

I'd be getting together with some work-mates on a shared purchase or maybe rental come wintertime ... decent ones aren't cheap ? the phone add on ones have limited resolution, no zoom.

They aren't cheap. A group buy is great if you can. I had the FLIR C5 on loan for a couple of months (on offer today at £500) and it was good enough indoors. Not really enough resolution to do outside the house at a distance showing the usage; the nice lady who came and did that survey was using a £10k camera that was donated to the community group.

bought this

and had a really greasy dump.

Downing street letter box is a bit of a trek so I just settled for sawing one out in the bog before polishing my bung hole clean with a few sheets of this.

A few days ago before prime day I made a list of some cheap smart watches (sub £40) that I thought would be worth a punt if they get reduced. During the sale one of the watches on my list went from £29.95 to £24.99 but was "reduced" from £59.99 for the sale, yeah right! What was worse was after I'd added it to the basket I spent some time browsing other crap. Just before I checked out the basket I noticed the watch was now £59.99... the deal had timed out and reverted back to £59.99. Noticed it thankfully and removed it and added it again back to the sale price. Chancers.

It used to be illegal to mark something up to reduce it. (I.e. it has to be on higher price for X amount of time first).

Wow the free games on prime gaming is lame as you now have to link your amazon account to a origin account and agree to all the data farming between the two. Jump through a bunch of hoops with the amazon account then have to do the same with the origin account and I just hit the point where no thank you closed it all and thought this is why people pirate if this is what one has to do to get free games. Its bad enough having to jump through hoops with multiple game launchers with paid games.

What happened to just giving me the origin/gog/etc code after logging into prime gaming.

Seen a few things like that - some headphones for instance which had £200 crossed out and £60 on sale showing "70% off", but they've been around £80-90 for months and gone back to £99 once Prime Day had finished. Still a reasonable deal but they've never been on sale for £200 that I recall except maybe shortly after release.

Lots of proper sales as well though.

People gave the codes away / sold them.
Logical step to stop that sadly.....

Crazy thought, if you don't like the data sharing - could actually just pay for the games?

I dunno I don't have a problem with it myself. they are giving away free games like mass effect trilogy remastered and the most recent grid etc. if you don't want to link then don't but I don't think it is something to gripe over .

I suspect it's as much to stop people selling the keys or giving away to none members as much as anything . These games are a perk for being a prime member but is somewhat undermined if cdkeys sell the games for 20p to non members or the keys were traded on sites like this which is what used to happen.
