Amazon Prime Payment Deduction

Amazon prime is worth every penny.

However maybe you should take some responsibility and a) check what you are signing up for and b) take better care of your finances so you would have noticed it hit your credit card.
a) I didn't sign up for it. b) Your god damn right that was my bad...

Sounds like it's all sorted now. You have to remember though this forum is for people who overclock their computers, and the stereotype The Simpsons did of someone like that (Comicbook guy) isn't actually that far from reality.
Good to know. I assumed this was a forums for enlightened people with interesting questions and answers. But clearly its a troll froums like any other. Some of you may get this South Park reference... "Skank hunt" never troll a troll kiddies!!

You did sign up for it otherwise you wouldn't have had a subscription. If you took the time to read what's on your screen then you would have had the option to opt out of it.

You have not been scammed.

No, he didn't sign up for it. Opt-out promotions such as any promotion where the default option is to opt-in does not constitute agreement to contract.

Hell even the TOS everyone clicked "Next" on when installing whatever software you have doesn't legally bind you to them.

I recieved a letter today telling me I wasn't using any of my Amazon Prime Video Benefits. The letter gave detailed ways to access my Prime account and how to set it up on all my devices. But I wasn't aware I had Amazon Prime. I'm sure I unclicked the box for Amazon Prime at time of Checkout Payment for my online orders. So I looked in my Amazon Prime Section and turns out they deducted £79 from my credit card and just decided not to tell me on the 18th July 2016. And there was a "handy reminder" telling me when the next payment would be taken out. I cancelled my Prime Account and as I haven't used their Video services I will be given a full refund within 7-10 working day. If they didn't take the time to post me this letter i'd have been none the wiser. My main concern was I could have gone overdrawn on my Bank Account. Luckly I had enough money in at the time to cover that payment. I suggest you take 5 mins outta your day and check your accounts to see if youve been scammed like me.

I bet you are the kind that does not read anything on a webpage and just clicks next\submit or whatever.

Huh? Scammed? You forgot to untick the Prime box, or checked it, or forgot, or accepted it. Amazon make it very clear when you're signing up to Prime.

Don't be so careless. How did you not notice a random £79 coming out of your CC?

I was going to ask this, how do people not notice money coming from whatever source it is, bank account etc?

It seems more and more that people don't take any responsibility in their actions and when something goes wrong they blame anything\one else but themselves.

Why is this lack of responsibility attitude becoming more and more often.

These same people are the ones who just press accept to everything on software and end up with 100's of adaware and spyware programs :p

He definitely must be because he once made a mistake with Amazon prime hahahahah! This has reaffirmed what I already knew about myself which is I am super intelligent and everyone else isn't. What a great thread.

It think it should be unlawful for people to sign up for ancillary services and insurance by checking or unchecking a box. There should, I think, be a didicated webpage that says - attention you are signing up for ancillary service x that states the express price of such service. Free trials that lead into payment periods if persons don't cancel should also be banned IMO. The service should just automatically stop until said person expressly agrees to pay for those services. There is often too much of a delay between signing up and payment and companies rely on this tactic to get people to pay for things they don't ACTUALLY agree to (hence the OP). It would benefit everyone to ban these.

I think the guy does have 1/2 a point. Where it's an annual thing, I wouldn't think it's entirely someones thought if they didn't realise it was being renewed in a years time, it's all too easy to think "I'll cancel that nearer the time".

Mine recently auto-renewed (although I use it all the time for Prime Video, next day and Prime Now stuff, so get my fair share out of it). I was a little concerned to have no communication saying "Your payment will be taken out on X day" or any reminder about it..

They did the same thing with me (the wife) I phoned them and got a refund. Id not ordered anything or used there services either. If I had they might not of refunded it.
