AMAZON prime

They would not let me buy pampers any more unless I signed up to prime. I ended up buying nappies in Aldi instead and my interest in their site has gone down being restricted on what I can buy or not. In my case it was a very bad business move but I'm sure not so savvy customers will cover any loss profits from me.

JUST SAY AMAZON

Agreed. Why people say rainforest still makes me laugh. It's not fully banned at OCUK just products that compete!

Keeping on topic though, i tried prime out at Christmas for a month and saved £82 in shipping. The service and product actually is great (minus the instant video).

Perhaps I am missing something here, but this is the first time I have heard of them actually refusing to accept a valid order... unless of course you had managed to find an unpublished 'loophole' in their system, or something! ;)

I do wonder if the people signing up to the trial inadvertently also have issues with malware :p

Must be a reason for all the stupid pc repair shops around.

A friend of mine recently asked me to take a gander at her adult sons laptop.
He claimed it got stuck on a windows update and after about an hour he turned it off and now windows will not boot.

So I boot it up and up comes "toshiba has detected your system will not boot, entering recovery tools" or something to that nature.

Now I browse through the options going first to "advanced"

I now see a screen "refresh your operating system but keep all of your data"
"perform a factory reset losing all your data"

I sent a text message saying "fix it yourself, goto advanced in the recovery options, engage brain and read the screen"

later on that evening I was told "you're a genius"

The stupidity of humans can never be underestimated

Depends how much you use it, my wife and daughter use the movies etc a lot, I'm probably cancelling Sky later this year because of Prime, that's quite a saving.

Add in faster free delivery and it's a winner. It really does come down to how much you get out of the various services though.

I've only ever used the trial. Never seen the need to sign up and now the price has increased, that looks even more unlikely.

My girlfriend once got the free trial when she ordered something, forgot about and it and they took money out of her account. She notified me, I double checked this for her and we contacted customer service and she received a refund. No issues.

I would subscribe but the Amazon movie thing refuses to work.

I keep getting buffering on my Samsung Bluray Smart player. It works fine with everything else just not Amazon.

Only thing I can think of is my rural 8mb connection isn't man enough for the job.

I got Prime from a kind soul on this forum. I use it from time to time. Seems alright and I didn't get anything rammed down my throat for it. Which was nice :p

As long as you notice within 14 days of them charging you, they'll refund - that's the law as I understand it.

Yes. They kidnapped my cat and said I could only have it back the next day if I signed up.

And me, I signed up and enjoy the service, I told them it was great and thanks for the opportunity but they didn't give me my cat back, tbh I think it's dead but I'm loving prime so much I haven't complained don't want to rock the boat.

I've just cancelled Prime after 2 years. I initially signed up at £49 and then renewed after it went up but talked them down to £4 again. To me, that is good value for the speedy delivery. However, I cancelled this year because I don't want to have to pay £30 for the streaming services which are useless. I watched 2 TV episodes and one film during that time. I would've watched more but one of the shows (Extant) was removed before I could. Most of the content is of no interest at all though.
Oh well, back to free delivery for me. :)

Love Prime (and that half price student discount). I rarely watch anything online but next day delivery is excellent as I buy a lot from there.

i don't know what's underhand.

i signed up to this years ago when ordering something and it said "try prime" so i did fully knowing that after the 1 month i would be charged the £49 for the year.
nothing sneaky at all i think.

I have no issues with it either, I've only used the trial but it was made pretty clear that i would be charged at the end if i didn't cancel.

I decided not to continue though as for me their free delivery is usually only 1-2 days anyway!

I'd suggest that people "get signed" to Prime because they don't take their time when selecting the means of delivery.

Quite often purchased items are postage FREE. When you go to pay for the item you are hit with a choice: Even though the item says FREE delivery, the choice (in my case) defaults to 1st Class for which there is a charge. The word FREE in capital letters appears twice immediately above 1st Class. However, it is FREE (£10 or more for their items) for Prime and Super Saver delivery. The 2nd FREE is Super Saver Delivery (2nd class post etc).

I'd suggest that those who don't take the time to read the choices might get caught out by selecting the first of the two FREEs and thereby opting into Prime. I could see that it would be easily done.

Does Amazon NOT send an email confirming you are signing up to Prime?
