Amazon stop accepting Visa Credit cards from 19th Jan 22??!

I use my Halifax Clarity Mastercard (and pay it off straight away), so this won't affect me but it doesn't sound great.

Is this related to Brexit? Does Europe not have VISA?

Europe does have Visa. From what i've jsut read, Visa Credit cards are accepted by Amazon that are issued outside the UK

What's the difference between the 'Amazon Classic Mastercard' and the 'Amazon Platinum Mastercard'

Think i'll just get one of these for Amazon purchases

I was just reading the page about them. The Platinum one you can collect reward points. The classic one you cant and seems to be for people with bad or no credit rating

Might be worth reading up a bit on the company actually issuing the credit cards that Amazon use...

Not anytime soon, Crypto is so far away from being viable for everyday purchases its laughable.
notice in shops all the younguns paying with mobile phones? does visa get a cut?

Never used googlepay/applypay or whatever it is so wouldn't know.

I'm guessing it's linked to a bank account like direct debit style or something?

Ebay must be loving this news. Amazon love to bully small businesses with changes in policy and fee adjustments so I'm glad that Visa have not buckled to the Amazon pressure.
Visa is the problem here, not Amazon. Visa bumped UK transaction fees from 0.3% to 1.5% last month as the UK is no longer bound by the EU limit

It's been a long time since I've been referred to as a "youngun" XD

Visa may or may not get a cut depending on whether it's a Visa transaction, but paying on your phone has nothing to do with crypto

Will never entertain another NewDay CC. Absolutely scummy company. They’re like parasites working their way through the less financially able, sucking them dry before moving onto the next victim.

Capital one are a better company than them

Fair play to Amazon if that’s true.
Do Amazon offer their own form of widely accepted credit cards? I thought the main ones accepted at most places was either Visa credit/debit or Mastercard

I guess this goes in hand with many of the banks switching from Visa to Mastercard recently for their debit cards?

Seems bizarre to use fees as a reason. I'd always thought Amex were considerably higher than the others.

yea but it's just an example of another payment method taking away VISA marketshare.
I did say "crypto and other ways to pay"

I didn't mean crypto and ways to pay using crypto currencies

Whenever I go to a student tesco nearly everyone is paying with their phone.

seems slower than using a debit card but whatever

Didn’t someone once buy a pizza with what today would be £440m worth of Bitcoin
I always found newspapers saying that really dumb.

It;s like claiming people in the 1970s paid £15.82 for anything that cost £1.

value changes overtime, the odds of him keeping those BTC anyway are like slim to none.

so many people could have been millionaires but they aren't

If any of you guys need a MasterCard but feel you might struggle to get a prime card, I’d recommend the Tesco Foundation. It’s sub prime but with a lower interest than most and a nice easy to use app. Minimum payment is always full balance or £25, but as always, just pay in full if you can.

You also get club card points if you use it in Tesco
