AMD 7990

you're right about the 7990, it cant handle overclocking like the 7970, i gave it full Catalyst and the coil wine was dreadful, so i backed it off to stock.

it behaved exactly the same as when i blew the 7970 years ago, the one that took 10 weeks to RMA

All three of my 7990's were good for at least 1200, but yeah, they generally don't go as far as 7970's.

i cant find where the AMD Catalyst menu button has gone with win 8.1, but when i can find it i'll give it another go

the fans are much quieter than the 7970 but the coil wine bothered me slightly

a 3 page thread all to run an AMD gfx card only to play 1080p?!

that in itself speaks volumes if you're smarter than an ant to notice it...

TBH a 7990 is a dual card. You don't really need to OC it at all. Should be able to run games really well at stock. As long as your CPU is OC'd to prevent a bottleneck you're good.

HI MATT

i was doing ok until i tried to modify that page in the USB stick, it said ``cant rewrite USB, Write protected``

i couldn't find where the write protection was

I wasn't aware usb sticks had write protections to be honest. Is there not a switch you can flick to disable it? I just used a cheap usb pen drive from Ocuk, cost like £3.
