AMD 7990

poor contact ? no way because if so it would overheat at idle :eek:.... the 7990 is ok until it gets over 90 degrees and then it starts racing...... slowing down... racing....slowing down.......... and it'll do this even on a blank screen in the game menu..

the 7970 was overclocked but never got over 80 degrees......it has a much larger cooler with a more bulky and open sided shroud, the 7990 is too slim and streamlined

I think I got lucky with mine, as long as I undervolt to 1.14v and speeds stock, benchmarking in valley at 2560x1440 temps get to around 85-87 and gaming usually doesn't get over 75-80
