AMD AM2 Price Drop - Now Active at OcUK!

Yeah tbh i was expecting the 3800 x2 with vat to be less that £100 no way they worth the money.

The only way that is gonna happen if the DOLLAR RATE improve greatly in the UK's favour and Etailors start selling them at cost.

Our price is good and competitive, it will no doubt not be the cheapest but will be within a few quid. :)

That's what I was hoping for - at this price/performance, AMD has no chance now, they should have dropped official prices to around £100 for the X2 3800+ - I was expecting around £110 max. :(

Maybe this a test AMD reduced there prices earlier than expected to see if anyone goes for them in a big way, maybe if they don't sell they will drop the prices again after Conroe.

I got a am2 setup month and a half ago had ddr2 ram already, had a one time great deal for me P4 off a friend(payed for the am2 mobo and 3800cpu) and thought with the price drops suggested would be a good upgrade too 3800 x2, think now ill just wait till september and go conroe.

what about single core? will the single core am2 3800+ drop to about £70? it should do as the dual core is only £30 more at the min, i just hope we get some single core price cuts...fingers crossed

Hi there

This is correct as the X2 4400 and 4800 are now end of life and as such no price drop and no longer in production on both S939 and AM2.

AMD will release newer X2's soon with 1MB cache.......
oooh are we talking about an Opteron line there or do you really mean new X2's?

lay-z-boy, for another £10 you could have core 2 folding rigs . . . . .

erm, thanks to an offer from my local electronics shop, i have 2 am2 boards and 2 freezer 64 pro's under my desk, it would be more expensive if i got new boards and new coolers.

I said i was tempted, not i was going to blindly going to buy them anyway.

Most places have had that price for several weeks now, that is hopefully not the cut price.

dont worry my fellow techie! i am waiting till next monday at least, then ordering my comp, strict budget so its an 3800+ single core, plenty enough for a gamer ...=)

You might want to get the main screen changed, then.

Lowest prices in the UK guaranteed:-
AMD X2 3800 @ £144.95 +VAT
AMD X2 4200 @ £174.95 +VAT
AMD X2 4400 @ £209.95 +VAT

If you're guaranteeing the lowest prices in the UK, you have to have the lowest prices in the UK.

Hmm...looks like a minimum of £300 for Core 2, just to get the 6300, a motherboard and 2x512MB.

Not worth it for me. Shame. Maybe if I flash a new BIOS on my current m/b, maybe put a heatsink on the southbridge too, just in case, maybe I can get the HTT base speed over 250 and maybe o/c my Venice a bit more.

You could do it for £250 and then deduct what ever you sell your old stuff for.

A competitor is selling S939 X2 3800+ OEM for £123. That's inclusive of vat and delivery. They have 50+ in stock.

So I agree with Angilion, you aught to change the wording, or adjust the price accordingly.

Yeah don't be fooled by these so called cheap prices, the proper cuts will happen after the 24th so you can expect to save at least another £30 off the X2 3800+

Hmm yes i've found them to be more than a few quid cheaper via competitor aswell tbh.
