AMD are doing one thing right.

Only easyrider could turn such an innocuous thread into a AMD vs Intel fanboy flame-fest. Not only does he type like a test-lab chimp with bloody stumps for fingers, but he has an infuriating habit of using his severely limited english skills to repeat himself ad nauseum throughout an entire thread. Most irritating member on the forum by a mile.

An FX-60 for £200 would be a decent upgrade for anyone who wants some power with minimum fuss... no t's not as fast as a Core2 but if you just want to plop a CPU in and then enjoy a big speed boost over an existing CPU (as many do) then it is perfect. Add an 8800 series card and you will have a machine capable of running anything you throw at it until AMD/Intel quad cores become mainstream.

Not everyone wants/needs to change their entire rig for the sake of a CPU upgrade...

strangely i could never decide whether he was the most irritating or EGT with his SM3 Nvidia monkey love posts. Then EGT went and got an ATi card so i guess that solves that one.

yup, plus many improvements coming up for AMD in the next 9 months anyway which should help drag a few more points in there direction. FX60 = a decent quick easy stop gap for the next 9 to 12 months, then see what's out there at that point.

indeed...

"woohoo ive got conroe, i can encode in 53 minutes instead of 1 hour 30, and ive gained 15fps, and all it took was a total system conversion at £380 and several hours to reinstall the PC... i think i may just jizz on my keyboard with excitement"

give me a break.

Only richdog could feel upset by the facts.

Upgrading to FX 60 with a x2 4800 in ones PC is nothing more than maddness and awaste of money.

Indeed if you have a single core venice then its a worthy choice.

However if you have a opty 170 or x2 4800 etc...its pointless.

It will be 200 for a reason. This reason being a 110 quid cpu in the 6300 destroys it in every benchmark.

thats why i want a fx60 i have a good rig as it is with a 1900xtx and the rest so why should i have to do the full upgrade for a good dual core cpu like c2d when i can get the fx60 to cover me for another year and a half and then look at upgrading to quad core when the prices are better

Your AMD love has clouded your vision. :D

Thing is 6 months ago I had a AMD opty 170 RIG running at 2.8ghz.
I thought it was fast and was happy with it until I bit the bullet and upgraded to conroe.

When editing the opty was like working in tracle compared to the CD2 :D

I dont care whether its AMD or intel I wnat more performance...Thats it.

Another year of K8 tech.

Why?

Because its AMD?

No you have a system thats slower than a 6300 that cost you more money.
Don't be bitter.

Fanboyism comes with its drawbacks :D

Treading water for the next AMD release is so sad its laughable TBH

Upset by the fact? Do you even think before you type... or is that in itself a stupid question? I know the facts, everyone else knows the facts, what is upsetting is your atrocious posting behavious, and how you manage to single-handedly destroy almost any thread you enter with childish insults, or putting a "rolf" or "lmao" at the end of your many condescending posts. That's the upsetting part, your e-personality just plain stinks something rotten, if you talked to people in real-life like you do online you'd end up drinking through a straw.

Upgrading to FX 60 with a x2 4800 in ones PC is nothing more than maddness and awaste of money.

If that person has a low clocking (2.5ghz) dual-core then an upgrade to an FX-60 at 3.0-3.2ghz would be a worth upgrade to them.

It will be 200 for a reason. This reason being a 110 quid cpu in the 6300 destroys it in every benchmark.

We know this... again you sound like a broken record. The fact is not everyone wants a complete system change and all the hassle associated with it, they want the best that their current platform wll offer. That's why they will upgrade to an FX-60.

it must be so easy to knock amd just coz they dont have the top cpu any more when its had the best cpu for the past 2-3 years tut tut and all these people say that the low end c2d would beat the fx60 lol yes i agree they would when there overclocked but when u overclock the fx60 u can say bye bye to the c2d just remember the c2d needs to be overclocked to beat the fx60 on stock :p

With both are overclocked a Core2 is faster, that is an inarguable fact.

Oh come on why so touchy?

Some just don't like the truth.

I don't see how TBH, a 400 mhz gain on the same architecture is hardly a performance boost. In fact I think the user would be pushed to tell the difference in real terms.

Certainly not worth 200+

I'm not disputing the fact.

If they sell their x2 4800 and are ok with the hassle. They might aswell sell the mobo and ram and get a real world upgrade that they will notice and show some improvement on.

If all you can reply with is "some just don't like the truth" then there really is no hope for you. *slaps forehead*

It wouldn't cost them £200, obviously they can sell their old CPU. I know that may be a bit of an obvous point even for you, but I just thought i'd spell it out anyway.

So now you're comparing the minimum hassle of swapping a CPU with the maximum hassle of swapping out an entire rig and reformatting/re-installing Windows. Interesting...

Oh please.

Do some more reading.

lol intel fanboys are so funny, the simple fact is not a lot of people want to sell there system thats fact why do u think people what to keep the current rigs because they cant afford the full upgrade, when u think that a £200 cpu that will give u a big boost from say a single core cpu its worth getting the fx60 till u can save the money up when u can afford it at your own time not just some intel fanboy told u not to bother with your rig and sell it all for the new model only for it to be out of date in a year when quad cores become more afford able not every one has rich parents that buy them new cpus or systems when they say so

In real terms upgrade to C2D requiring an entire system overhaul would offer the same sod all performance increase. (NOT talking about overclocking here, shocking not everyone overclocks their PC's - yes you can pick your jaw up off the keyboard now!)

The FX60 is NOT a slow chip, performance wise you'd be VERY hard pushed to notice the difference between it and a 6300. (Talking watching the FPS/pi times/encoding times etc)

This is a great buy for those with single or lower end dual core A64's wanting to extend the life of their system. FX60 is a very capable CPU and would be a great upgrade for most people. Upgrading to Core2 (despite what people say) probably won't change the user experience for the majority of users. Those still on 939 are also unlikely (though they may...) to have higher end GPU's which need the power of a core2 to really shine.

I'm slapping mine reading your replies.

They have nothing to them TBH.

Other than You calling people chimps :D

They can sell their mobo and ram.DDR1 prices are good at the mo on the second hand market. The upgrade could cost them less than you they think.Just thought I would point theis upgrade path out.

Not an entire Rig.A cpu mobo and ram.

Never seen the hassle with a format Reinstall TBH.It sommething that takes 10 mins.Programs etc.. just get installed as I need them.

Everything else is backed up including game saves etc...Hardly an excuse not to gain 30 FPS in oblivion! :D

If you read more you would know, I'm neither.

My last rig was an opty 170.I don't give a fairy fluff what names its under.

I'm about to drop NV for ATI if the R600 is up to scratch. So dont make yourself look more stupid by calling easyrider a fanboy...OK?

Good.

Again I work for a living...

200 quid for a 400 mhz gain?

when for 100 quid more you could upgrade to C2D and with the money you get from the mobo combo go out and have a good time.

Then the upgrade does not concern them

I did.And I was running FX 62 speeds.

Going to close this now as it's just going round in circles.

The fact is that if AMD sell the FX60 at £200 it's the most cost effective upgrade for the average S939 user.
