AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I meant before.

It was ambiguous as to what I meant, but I don't know why so many of you chose to interpret as the least logical of the 2 options :P

But AM3+ being designed for BD doesn't make sense if BD is crippled for AM3+ ;)

Dude, you really think ( or believe ) that AMD would release a brand new "crippled" architecture that they are heavily depending on ?
The product will be what it is.. nothing more, nothing less.

Like all manufatured goods, the next generation will be better of course, but to suggest that the first gen will be crippled is idiotic. Otherwise, everything you buy is " crippled " simply because the next model is better and improved.

Think about it for a minute....

I thought it was widely reported that BD was crippled to fit AM3+ to maintain backwards compatability with AM3?

Exactly.
Which in itself makes no sense.
Why not go straight ahead with FM2, as people who want AM3 compatibility would already have an AM3 board.

People are being overly optimistic about BD.

As Jokester said.
Which is why it's FM2 that "The fun will begin".
AMD do a lot of things which don't make sense. They released Llano, which while the IGP is impressive, it's IPC is that of Athlon II, they released this after SB.

Why are they so obsessed with keeping the old sockets?

I know its good for consumers but I for one would jump to BD and a new socket in a jiffy it was faster than SB

They are shooting themselves in the foot are they not?

The fact it was released after SB makes no difference because they don't have anything for that market segment that can compete with SB IPC period, so they went with what they could & its doing well so it makes sense.
If they did have something that could but didn't go with it then you would have a point.

It would have been nice to see something faster than Deneb IPC...
So it doesn't make sense.
How do you know they couldn't have released a better product?

It would have been nice but more expensive & Llano costs enough as it is & what sell is what make sense & the average consumer who this chip is aimed at hasn't got a clue about IPC.

The average consumer wouldn't buy llano, as it's not in the shops as such last time I checked, they're full of SB computers.
Llano is/was too expensive at launch for its target market.

Llano is doing well though, and I expect it to flood the market soon.

So who is buying it then if not the average consumer ?

Because everywhere i look i see.
AMD plans to release new A-series chips, which are code-named Llano, for consumer laptops and desktops

You took my post too literally :p.
But look at the shops, mainly the new argos, it's all SB, no Llano.
EDIT : Though it could have changed!
