I think the post must me no reviews until 10 days before launch ?
otherwise surely anyone can buy one at launch and post benches etc/user reviews anyway ?
Sherlock, you may be on to something!
But AM3+ being designed for BD doesn't make sense if BD is crippled for AM3+![]()
I thought it was widely reported that BD was crippled to fit AM3+ to maintain backwards compatability with AM3?
Dude, you really think ( or believe ) that AMD would release a brand new "crippled" architecture that they are heavily depending on ?
The product will be what it is.. nothing more, nothing less.
Like all manufatured goods, the next generation will be better of course, but to suggest that the first gen will be crippled is idiotic. Otherwise, everything you buy is " crippled " simply because the next model is better and improved.
Think about it for a minute....
I wouldn't go that far, but there was a clear suggestion that design sacrifices were made to ensure that BD (& AM3+) would work with AM3 and vice versa. So really, its a waste spending money on BD and AM3+.
AMD do a lot of things which don't make sense. They released Llano, which while the IGP is impressive, it's IPC is that of Athlon II, they released this after SB.
The fact it was released after SB makes no difference because they don't have anything for that market segment that can compete with SB IPC period, so they went with what they could & its doing well so it makes sense.
It would have been nice to see something faster than Deneb IPC...
So it doesn't make sense.
How do you know they couldn't have released a better product?
The average consumer wouldn't buy llano, as it's not in the shops as such last time I checked, they're full of SB computers.
Llano is/was too expensive at launch for its target market.
Llano is doing well though, and I expect it to flood the market soon.
AMD plans to release new A-series chips, which are code-named Llano, for consumer laptops and desktops
You took my post too literally.
But look at the shops, mainly the new argos, it's all SB, no Llano.
Argos is not an OEM PC distributor.
The first place you look is at PCworld, HP, Dell. ext..
