AMD Bulldozer Finally!

A lot of us who have waited really don't need to urgently ugrade, those who did, already seem to have gone SB. Those who haven't, well they have survived, somehow apparently.

From that basis, even if its performance is mediocre (define mediocre) as long as it is priced appropriately, then all it needs to be is a decent improvement over their current setup and/or satisfy 'new toy' itch.

Well said!

I am a year and a bit past my hexcore upgrade and like many am interested in the forthcoming bulldozer zambezi cpu. Mainly to see a potential upgrade path for the 890GX chipset but not essentially. There is still a decent overhead on my 1055T 24/7 OC and I do not bench. I may upgrade in 6-12 months if I see a need but not otherwise.

I would love to see AMD pull out a good performance/watt score (kinda enjoy tech that's more powerful but uses less power), but I'm kinda disappointed that previous details have shown 125W parts - this does not fill me with confidence when i5's run at 95W :(

*edit* Not that I don't intend to give BD a fair chance and all before choosing my next upgrade - it's just a bit worrying when you hear things like AMD considering selling them with built in watercooling. Not the right direction!

Do people not remember when Intel said they were gonna package one of their chips with water cooling? There were non of this worrying about the CPU running too hot then.

Same kind of rumour to be honest yet less worrying because its Intel???

The 125w thing has always been like that between Intel and AMD, Just because it shows its Max TDP is 125 doesnt mean that its going to use that all the time, and there is or will be 95w versions of BD am sure of that.

What bothers me is the relatively short life span of AM3+. Invest in AM3+ to run a substandard BD system, which will be replaced with FM2 and better BDs. Its a lot of money to spend on what will be a dead socket in a years time.

Just my opinions.
