AMD Bulldozer Finally!

nearly all the CPUZ's i've seen are either ES chips or oc'ed
You really have something against ES chips.
I can understand if it's really early ES chips, but this close to launch, it's practically retail silicon. Literally, the only difference is the ID. They must have ES on final silicon, or they'd never know if the final silicon was ok :p

Can't you just consider it an educated guess? Everyone does it. For one thing, If the ES chips are using 1.4, then if anything the retails will use less or the same for stability. Certainly not more.

His point is about safe Vcore.
But if 1.4v is stock on an ES, it's not stupid to assume 1.4v isn't dangerous for it long term on "retail" silicon.

i'm talking about the 24/7 ocing.

also even if stock voltage is 1.425-1.45v~ which sounds high for stock anyway, we don't know for sure if 1.5v+ is safe when ocing..

thats my point..

until amd states the max safe voltage and also temp, we can't say for sure on the max 24/7 oc...

Ha, this is kinda funny for me. Back when I first got into building my own PCs Intel held the clockspeed crown with some liquid nitrogen nutters pushing Pentium 4s to 4GHz+, but AMD's Athlon XPs were outperforming P4s at much lower frequencies. How times have changed eh? :p

I don't think these will be able to beat SB even when overclocked, cause let's face it, SB also runs cool and clocks well. Not that it matters, as they will definitely make a killing in the server market. What AMD needs is not the performance crown, it's to sort out their manufacturing capacity problems! It was a stupid mistake spinning out GF, you can be a fabless chipmaker if you're ARM, cause then you're not actually selling chips yourself, you're just lisencing yoru design - but if you're actually in the chip-selling business, and you're a high-end CPU maker and only 1-2 fabs worldwide actually have the capability to manufacture your chips, then you're basically at their mercy, which is awful!

Maybe they could use Intel? :p

Thanks Helios1234 interesting article - I want to know if I could reach 5Ghz with a Tuniq Tower. I'm hoping to get the 3.6 8 Core with the best 990fx board I can afford - I will wait for reviews though.

Anyone else having a late one to find out what the 2am announcement is??

Seriously conflicted now... Was planning to simply bite the bullet and go Sandybridge, since consumer version of this chip won't be available until at least October and possibly not until December, but they look like such awesome toys to tinker with and possibly warm my flat in Winter with!

This post appeared on the forum of a competitor and was made by one of their employees:

"The things i can tell you.

1. Bulldozer is here mid-Sept
2. Bulldozer will be very price competitive vs Sandy Bridge
3. Bulldozer is awesome - ha lol.
4. Every part is unlocked
5. It can OC very well!
6. AMD will be doing something special with LN2 very soon - 1-2 weeks. "

It seems this chap was right about a few things.

Hi...So, please, can someone speak this in English New to all this...Wonna build my first PC...Gaming, what should I do...i5 sandy bridge? or wait for this Bulldozer from AMD??

Love your forum :)

If you can wait, wait. Then you'll be able to see which platform will be better for you. If you can't wait, the Intel Sandy bridge platform is very capable and probably will be for a few years to come.

Basically, it's like a lot of tech. You can wait and wait until the next thing comes out, but it's never-ending. The only times you really want to avoid immediately splashing out is just before big releases, and I suppose now may be one of those times.
