AMD Bulldozer Finally!

My understanding (and I could be wrong), is that no consumer has the absolute right to return an item. Once the item is purchased, the retailer does not have to take back the item.

That is correct in the context of going to the shop in person and buying an item.

Defective goods on purchase, can be exchanged or refunded.

DSR and Hire Purchase (distance or in person) are covered by the "cooling off" period for contract cancellation.

I wonder if the BIOS of both is the same and memory.

Could even be different Windows builds - all I can say is if they were identical they should run the same - but no chips are identical as we see in the VID differences.

I think he may just have a good 8150 and a bad 8120 it could quite easily be the other way round.

Having a good or bad 8150/8120 shouldn't change their performance like that.

They definitely have the same amount of cache. Everything I've seen has said they both have 8MB L2 and 8MB L3.

Shame he didn't downclock the 8150 to 8120 speeds to see what happens.

Edit: He must be doing something different between the two, I just can see why they would perform massively different.

Perhaps he's just mistaken.
Who knows.
basicly these chips are waste of time as they are now, they have 2 extra cores but they not giving any extra performance....

In many cases it's actually worse performance.
AMD's got to be trolling.

Despite what anyone says about what constitutes a core, etc etc, the FX4100, at 90 odd quid, with its performance in this day and age is absolutely shocking.

Only thing I can think of (aside from some difference with his setups) is some kind of performance throttling kicking in, given that it's a worse binned chip the 8120 probably hits the threshold earlier.

It just confirms that Bulldozer as it is is held back by Windows. It doesnt change things though. It is still a big chip that is unable to compete. AMD should have resolved this issue before launching the processor.
