AMD Bulldozer Finally!

nah i changed my mind i dont want to be a beta tester :D,i will wait & see what the pricing on the 6 core 12mb sandy bridge-e will be like (i heard it can be oc at 5+ghz easly) before i decide on my next upgrade but i think its going to be an intel upgrade anyway. ;)

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4291/additional-details-on-sandy-bridgee-processors-x79-and-lga2011

Sandy Bridge-E is a new architecture and completely new mobo chipset.

Ivy Bridge is a massive die shrink on a completely new process technology, with partial mobo chipset compatibility with Sandy Bridge boards.

Better not consider those ... you'd be a beta-tester ....

Whether BD works out or not it would be nice to see at least something which could push intel's prices down.

A nice thought.

But I personally would consider the SB CPU's to be pretty reasonably priced now! Though always happy if things get cheaper. Compared to the prices for the speedier core-2 quads, they are almost ("almost") a giveaway.

Only my opinion of course :)

I don't mind waiting a couple of months if it means I can save a tenner or two! That's all the difference is between a 2400 and a 2500k!

This thread has an early B0 4 module Bulldozer engineering CPU in a 990FX motherboard:

http://www.chiphell.com/thread-210890-1-1.html

There are also some results from another B0 engineering CPU:

http://www.chiphell.com/thread-210024-1-1.html

However, the system had a few BSODs. This probably means the CPU is a very early buggy engineering sample and hence the results cannot be fully trusted IMHO.

TBH,I don't see the point of these benchmarks as they are early engineering samples with buggy microcode.

The current CPUs are meant to B1 and B2 steppings.

Just noticed the gigabyte AM3+ boards (UD5 and 7) are "in stock" here. Is that an error or for real????
May jump on board with a cheap AM3 cpu until BD comes out.

the nda must have been lifted as ocuk's main competitor now have am3+ boards listed and also in stock, none were listed before.

They are alll early B0 samples so the results should be ignored IMHO. Until we get B1 and B2 samples we cannot make any conclusions at all.

That's like saying early tests for a proof-of-concept are worthless. Just interested where they stand, I realise they may not be indicative of the 'true' performance. I was just interested from those that bench.

Boards are for sale and in stock, just ordered one and its shipped.

Awesome!! May have to get gigabyte UD5 (no mood for CHV and now a little wary of ASUS after their SB dramas).
Plus i think its the better looking 'board imo. Plus 2 x 16x PCI-e in case i do wanna x-fire at some point....

So you guys are just getting these boards with your old chips, and then swapping them out when the BD chips come along?

Think that'll be the plan - spread the cost of upgrading so ur not spending it all at once. Myself (see spec in sig) prob get cheap Phenom II and wait a few months then get BD cheap and maybe memory upgrade....

Ive (personally( been desperate to move off intel just because I do "like" AMD... So got myself a sempron 140 that will hopefully unlock, and will now have a play with new toy whilst waiting for BD....

Cant wait to get SLI back on AMD :)

Llano will dominate the low end laptop/netbook market for sure, Intel's intergrated HD2000/3000 doesnt run anywhere near the clock speed, but they can (and will) improve it.
As for desktops, really a bit useless running an intergrated chip when you have a designated graphics card with more memory and better cooling, intel's intergrated graphics is overridden I believe when there is a different GPU running, I would expect the same from AMD.
