AMD fusion netbooks

If you get it, it'd be awesome if you make a post in here about it. I'd like to hear an actual user's opinion. The keyboard is especially important, since I've yet to use their new design. Currently on an NC10 for all writing duties and the keyboard on this thing is hard to top.
 
Keeping my options open at the mo. Lenovo may well cave to demand and bring it here, spoke to a CS agent on Friday last week and his lips were sealed... I'd be buying at least two, probably more for workmates. PITA that in this day and age there is a product I want but cannot legitimately exchange good money for! It is basically the same chassis and keyboard as the x100 btw.
 
I'll wait for reviews before joining the mob :) Depends on price and battery life for me. If you don't go for the base config, It's shockingly expensive. Don't know what configs will be available in the UK, but I'll take a E-350 and 6 cells for £450.

What do you guys reckon of this Sony model? I think $550 (plus tax) is quite a lot for that amount of performance and somewhat limited battery life. However, if it is built and feels like a premium quality product, then I might be interested. Not sure if 11.6" is a little small as something to watch movies and surf the web when travelling. At least it's the same resolution as the 13.3" options.
 
I'd take a 11.6'' 1366 x 768 fusion netbook, but under £450, which is the price of current dual core Atom + Ion (still to expensive to make an impact). I like the small netbooks, but hate the crappy resolution (and performance). The keyboard and trackpad get squeezed a bit, but I got used to it eventually on my NC10 (and its 10.1''), and the small size was a boon. Still, 13'' isn't that much of a problem, and still very portable.

Just too expensive atm, but I don't know how much room the manufacturers have with Fusion, given Intel being hard nosed about the netbook market. Will still be in the realm of 'posh' netbooks, even though the platform is suppose to be cheap. Hopefully under £350 at some point.

Can't say about the Sony, but I'd expect it to be just that. Expensive, slick, and not overly concerned by battery life. Note that ipads start at $500. I know it's a slightly different market, but for someone in the balance between a tablet and a small portable laptop, well I suppose these could be competing markets for some.

Would really like the ThinkPad X120e. Do you think there would be any major issues importing it or buying it over the bay?
 
Aha, a thread of note. These fusion netbooks are gonna be the death of me!!

Ok, I'll tell you where I am. I saw the Toshiba NB550d which runs the c50 fusion and thought it was a great bit of kit. Good price, solid form factor, nice machine. I then started hearing about the e350 processors which are higher clocked fusion chip so I looked around for machines containing that processor...

Asus 1215b, perfect! Only shipping in America...should start shipping on April the 1st so the reviews should be coming shortly. But in terms of specs, that machine is a beast. The 1015b is cool too, but just comes with the lower c50 processor and a lower end graphics card

Acer 522 is currently on the market, I've seen it around for £300 including a 3 years warranty. A lot of people on different forums have stripped this netbook to the core, changed the hd to an ssd one, upped the ram, changed the os and the results seem pretty good. I'll dig up a website that did some tests with the rejigged machine ina sec. This is definitely on my short list but the one I'm really waiting on is the...

MSI U270!! Justl no word on availability yet :-( That model has an 11.6 inch screen, windows 7 home, the higher end fusion chip, 1366*768 HD resolution, HDMI AND USB 3! It doesn't skimp on anything, it sounds like an absolute beast but I've been tearing my hair out trying to find information from MSI about when it's coming out. Spoken to HQ in Taiwan, obviously a slight language barrier. UK HQ haven't got a clue, it's a joke. So I'm in a conundrum, what to do!!!

Will keep you posted with anymore details or things I find out

The MSi looks really nice. Only found one UK seller with it on their website at £351.25. Looks like one of the better Fusion netbooks so far. Especially the 12.6" version. Very much want.

I've had an acer 522 for about a month now, paid £240, stuck in 4gb ram, 64bit win7, and a 80gb ssd... cracking little machine, even sold my 13" i5 core acer as it simply wasnt needed any more with this little thing.

Love the hd 10" screen just the cpu could use a tad more power but that would be my only slight gripe with it.
