***AMD Kaveri APU quick look***

It is possible the CPU could be holding back the GPU though in that setup.
I would have thought it would still be quicker than the A10-7850K though, especially as it appears to be bandwidth limited in a lot of benchmarks.

There is the possibility of a small amount of CPU bottleneck but I was going on the assumption that the 930 would be overclocked at least a little bit - to not do so would be  :p

I don't know if this was answered in another thread, but do we know which dedicated GPUs can be hybrid x-fired with these Kaveri APUs?

I would like to upgrade my HTPC at some point this year to something with more grunt than the 1.6GHz Atom machine I have now. I was thinking along the lines of getting an A7850k to begin with and then adding another card later to boost performance.

It's been answered, you can use a 240 or 250 GDDR3 card.

Did your 7850k come with BF4?

I haven't even opened the DPD packaging yet, keep having RL things interfering! Going to move the data from my i7's boot SSD to use on the 7850k and the new larger SSD to back in the i7 (dual boot) ... so I got 3 OS's to install & update ... oh joy.

TBH, I'm not really interested in BF4 (I've already got it) and it needs Origin (I'm a Steam user)

My allegiance is to games not platforms. Join my doctrination, brother.

Well, i've got to say i'm impressed sofar with this chip!

My A10-6800k couldn't run Warframe smoothly at 1920x1080 with graphic features off (around 25fps) sweetspot was 1366x768

Just had a quick game with Warframe with the A10-7850k, playing at 1920x1080 with all features on (except physx) getting 30-60fps, typically around 45fps ...really pleased.

...also running a lot quieter & cooler (i've increased the gpu to 792mhz (+10%) & dropped the vcore to 1.35v, i'll keep hacking at that until it's unstable. I managed to run the 6800k at 1.25v which dropped 10'c off)

couldn't budge the FSB from 100mhz, even at 102mhz no programs would work.

Pretty good for APU's CPU.

Also, turn Post AA Down or off, alll it does is blur the image, looks much better with it off ;)

Lol, the irony of this.. Uses APU for integrated graphics, buys DGPU because integrated still sucks :p

I don't see the point of putting a graphic card on an APU also, the only reason I've bought an APU is to build a miniscule, portable PC which would have no room for a discreet card (I'm using a Silverstone Milo case which is about the size of a PS2)
If I'm using a DGPU then it's Intel I'm afraid atm!

Personally, I'm quite impressed with the A10-7850k and I'll be looking forward to it's successor.

Agreed, 7850K makes sense in a small build where DGPU wouldn't fit. That said, once it drops down to normal (Previous top APU) price levels, I still think it's a nice chip, small incremental upgrade over the last gen, some nice new features, each iteration is getting better and better, like you said looking forward to the successor.

I've got to say i'm really warming to this APU, been playing Crysis 1920x1080 on High settings with V-Sync on, and it's fairly smooth...i tried 1920x1080 on the 6800k and it was quite choppy, making me feel sick after a shortwhile.

Bare in mind i used to have a QX6700 OC to 3.6 watercooled & 8800GTX in SLI also watercooled to do the same performance, the PC was massive & powerhungry.

I'm now using a PC which is half the size of a shoe-box, really light, very quiet (running the APU at 1.3v) single 120mm fan.

Also in Warframe i'm getting only slightly less fps than my i7 2600k (4.2ghz) & 780GTXti (makes me scratch my head after paying £600 for GPU alone)

^^ be interesting to see what would happen if AMD launched 768-1024 GCN cores / 3 module, 6 core APU with DDR4. I imagine that would peak the interest of enthusiasts as well as mini system builders, could sell a load..

If you take the 7850K as a base line performance for this gen's APU's, within 1 or 2 more gen's the chips should be awesome, and mean a lot of peeps wouldn't need to bother with DGPU at all.

Is your i7 and 780Ti system broken or something?
