AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

When was the last time AMD launched a killer product?

Maybe the already spoken of HD 5870 - the first 40nm GPU that held the performance crown from September 2009 till March 2010, together with the dual-GPU HD 5970.

AMD bet on the so called 'sweet spot' GPU dies and doubling the dies in dual-GPU cards.

Radeon X1650 XT Dual,
HD 3870 X2,
HD 4870 X2,
HD 5970,
HD 6990,
HD 7990,
R9 295X2,
Pro Duo,
Pro Duo Polaris.

The last two being for the prosumer market segment.

So, despite all the efforts during the years, today you can't find dual-GPU gaming graphics cards.

Which means that AMD has failed not only in producing enthusiast-level competing graphics cards, but also in making CrossFire work.

The funny thing with all of this is everyone needs AMD to launch good cards. Fanbois on both sides need it. Nvidia loyalists will always go green and need lower prices and higher tier cards, 3080Ti. AMD worshipers need decent performance and also the competition that brings affordable technology. We should all be celebrating if they're neck and neck.

I'm curious to see what this cache thing is all about. Could this be something like the Broadwell 128MB eDRAM I've heard mentioned?

I will always go green only because all my gaming screens are gsync only but I need AMD to do well so that I don't have to pay ridiculous prices

Understandable but also part of the reason AMD have struggled to compete. Bit of a catch 22. We need AMD to make better products but they need us to buy their products to help finance better products ;)

I get the feeling you may be in luck this time around as AMD seem to be gathering momentum.

The GSync monitors are way too overpriced. You can always sell them and buy the much more affordable Freesync monitors instead and go with Radeon. Win-win.
Of course, if AMD doesn't simply release a top-end new-gen graphics card that is miserable 20% or so faster than the RX 5700 XT.

That would be uber fail :(

Not very though he had/has videos covering most angles - he claimed a bunch of new feature technologies that at best are tenuously similar to actual new tech in Ampere, his initial claim was his reliable source apparently claimed TSMC 7nm would be used for the 3080/3090 (I can't remember what produce numbers he used but basically pointing at those tiers) and Samsung 8nm for the lower end cards, then that changed to TSMC 7nm through the stack then eventually Samsung 8nm, etc.

EDIT: His "full" leak and IMO what he should be judged on as it presents some degree of exclusivity whereas the later information that is more correct is posted after the fact when other reliable sources have covered it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCPufeQmFJk

Top end GA102 card would be 220w, 2.2GHz clock, 864GB/s memory bandwidth, 5376 cores, built on TSMC 7nm, come with DLSS 3.0.

I'll leave the audience to decide.

Guys like him, adored, notanapple fan etc have understood that if you say enough technical terms, a large percent of the audience will assume you’re knowledgeable. Couple that with making almost daily talking head videos with shifting stances, you quickly end up with a broken clock fallacy. The uneducated fan believes what he wants to believe and simply dismisses all the other things that didn’t pan out.

My take is that these people deserve what they get. They’re the ones choosing to repeatedly buy into the nonsense so let them be.

You know I was thinking about looking for a cheap 2080S to tide me over til Navi hits (5700XT GamingX atm, well clocked) and stocks for both settle but tbh it hardly seems worth it given the v small bump sometimes! I may as well just drop a setting.

im sure this will upset many on here but it is a valid point made in the video about amd's radeon market muppets.

It has, everyone is hyping it on youtube, reddit, twitter, on various forums.

I dreamt tonight about the >Nvidiakiller as I put in a Big navi in my computer I got a warm fuzzy feeling owning the best there is.
I also heard the scream from the neighbor as they are a Nvidia fan and they just had another nightmare again about impotence.

I woke up smiling

Good grief. :D

Thank god you woke up!

AIB's now have Big Navi engineering samples, now Nvidia know what it can do and need more time to squeeze more out of the drivers.

they do Oo any actual info out there proving it ? as for all we know big navi may not be here till the new year the way amd marketing works.

63.9 FPS at Crazy_4K for unknown Radeon Graphics.
RTX 2080 Ti - +1.6%
RTX 3080 - +38%
RX 5700 XT - -19.4%.

This should be a small GPU, maybe Navi 14 replacement?

Yeah probably...

6700XT stock 2080TI performance, 3070 competitor.

Don't ask people to prove their speculations in a speculations thread, FFS don't be a ####

yeah just the speculations seem to be getting in to the land of make believe of late. :P

like that test bench card being "proof!" of a 16 gig 3080 killer, when to be honest it was a test bench card they swap gpu cores in and out off and probably have a 4 6 8 12 gig variants as well while they test stuff, but yet it was proof.

I don't know what you are referring to.
