AMD "Never Settle" 12.11 Driver - benchmarks

Tried them just now with the 7850 and I have to say there are quite visible gains in BF3. Also, the borked 2d clocks issue didn't affect me so I guess I can safely put 12.11 to some serious testing.

@Winky: I've just uninstalled my OC software along with the drivers and after installing 12.11 restored my OC settings. It seems to be working fine.

anyone else seeing gpu usage spikes all the time in afterburner? also getting white ghosting in tribes ascend... might roll back to 12.10

Very small spikes yes, however you no longer get the large gpu usage spikes any more with this (12.11 beta) driver im noticing.

AMD rep

"We are aware of the improper idle clocks, have it reproduced internally and from many users on OCN, and we are hot on the heels of a fix. Please be patient."

thanks but i just never got any spikes at all before this driver o.o. now i'm getting big and small spikes all the time

yeah this is odd. gpu-z shows a flat line as well...

Probably something else then Pork as im just not seeing that, i did have some previous spikes in the last driver though, that was solved by disabling aero which is hardware accelerated however it looks like rather than large spikes you now get very small ones in the range of a few percent, looks much better imo.

Might be time for a full aitman uninstall.

yeah seems to be an issue on my end :/. thanks for the suggestion, I just tried disabling aero but to no avail. ab just chooses a number then spikes that for a few minutes. currently it's spiking from 0 to 80 all the time (with a completely flat temp line). thing is i had this in beta 3 as well as this beta 4, where i had a flat 0 on 12.9 beta and before. and i always use driver sweeps during installs. perhaps i'll get lucky when beta 5 comes out - won't bother reinstalling till then

Well i had the same actually, but after using atiman it went away. It seems to be the most extreme and complete driver sweeper ive ever used.

Installed these last night but was getting lots of artifacts in sleeping dogs (huge beige planes blocking the view)

Went back to 12.10 and the problems gone, anyone else had similar/know of a solution?

I think with these drivers because of the performance gains might use a bit more wattage, as a result you might find you need to bump vcore a notch or dial back an overclock ever so slightly. :)

Aaah ok will give that a go tonight.
Was running at 1100 core 1500 mem @ 1.1

Will bump that up a little and try again :D

I hope its today. :)

woot! i thought i'd try uninstalling and reinstalling ab while i wait for b5 and it's fixed it. had a hunch it was ab because the temps stay the same and gpu-z as well. tbh i trust gpu-z a lot more lol. anyway i'm hoping for b5 today as well, not that i'm having 2d clock issues :p

Can i get a hallelujah praise the lord?

Come to think of it i did an un-install of afterburner around the time mine got fixed as well, maybe, just maybe...

I'm on Beta 3 and I don't have any clock issues (7970 WF), but I am getting some artifacting in BF3. I've had this before with Beta drivers though, and expect that it will be cleared by the time it gets to WHQL.

Are you saying lower the clocks on the GPU or the CPU ?
