AMD orders HUGE price cut on FX-9590 – Game on!

I think at £299 its buyable- maybe not for some but if people like the Underdog like me then its a viable option. I stress though I cant justify getting one due to budget constraints

I have two machines but as I mainly play WOW, Eve or use some VM's in Workstation I find that the AMD 8 Cores do the job I want & it has allowed me to keep the same Mobo for a while

How's it an option?
It's slower and more expensive, you'd be an idiot to buy one.

I say idiot, because only an idiot would let stupid fanboy loyality get in the way.

Rooting for the under dog? Get the FX832.

In my machines I have a FX8150 & a 840 Quad Core

you are right a 8300 series or more interestingly the 9370 would be an option if it drops a bit

This is a great CPU, very fast too it beats 4770 in lots of tasks by a large margin. And a good heater if your PC is in the basement.
Rude boys who are calling this a turd and crap are just unhappy in their life (despite having intel CPU). Sort your lives out before it's too late. Sad people.

AMD staff are out in force I see :D

It's a decent alternative if you want to "think different". Also by buying AMD product good or bad you give them money for competing with Intel and Nvidia, which brings down prices for everyone. By everyone I mean old people, sick people, orphans animal lovers. That's better than charity. Because AMD doesn't waste money (look how tight their budget it and what they can do with it).

O_o

Wonder what it's like to experience a psychiatrist. "People online do not valid my opinions and so upset."

You're exaggerating. The 9590 is about 10% faster than a 4770K in multithreaded apps.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...166-amd-fx-9590-review-piledriver-5ghz-9.html

In games they're close, with the 4770K taking a small lead.

The first benchmark goes to the 4770, it's clearly multi-threaded by the 39XX's victory, the second goes to the FX95.

It's swings and roundabouts.

Either way, if you weren't OC'ing, you wouldn't be getting the 4770K, in fact, even the 4770 is a bad buy, you'd get the Haswell Xeon, that puts the price advantage to the Hawell chip still.

What it does show however, is just how much multi-threaded performance you can get out of the FX8320, as many will clock to the 4.7GHZ of the FX95.

Don't forget Haswell-E 8 cores is coming.

However close it gets to a 4770k (and it doesn't actually in many games), the power consumption (and heat) is quite ridiculous.

Its a bit like saying yes my mazda 6 mps can go as fast as a standard GT-R if I mod the nuts out of it. It still doesn't take away from the fact that, compared to a GT-R, it is a bit of a turd.

What about the review I just linked where it's less than 5 fps behind the 4770K in 8/9 games. Here's the link again http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...66-amd-fx-9590-review-piledriver-5ghz-15.html

Also it's not really like that car analogy at all. It's more like comparing two similarly fast cars, but one has way less mpg.

I want what he's smoking :D

I think Areks long lost brother has found the forums

I'm off to hug my computer.

Thing is when a game does require strong CPU IPC the AMD is gonna sink fast against the Intel, the above benchmarks are CPU bound yes but they show the true IPC power of the Intel over the AMD.

I mean it's getting beat of a stock 2500k, it's an embarrassment in terms of performance at 5Ghz and power draw/temps.

Those are all in excess of 120 fps. All those charts show is that nobody needs faster at 720p, not even those with high refresh rate screens. It's getting beaten in a way that makes no difference at all in real life.

In the same games at 1080p the only significant difference is in Skyrim, which I will say it does get smashed in.

Still not saying I'd buy one, but anyone saying "it's a turd" or that it gets destroyed in games needs to actually look at the charts. It's the fastest chip at this price point overall (overclocking not included).
