Quite funny how the thread is called
yet over half the thread is dominated by Intel ownersAMD OWNERS ONLY

Intel fanboy here, but I come in peace.
Hoping to upgrade soon from my current spec, just wondering why should I opt for a AMD instead of a Intel?
No flaming or fanboyism please.

Never crossed your mind that lots of "Intel owners" that spoke in here are also "AMD owners"?Quite funny how the thread is called yet over half the thread is dominated by Intel owners
From practicality and price point of view, there isn't any...unless coming Piledriver can catch Intel off guard and dominate their CPUs like Athlon 64 dominated Pentium 4 back it the days. But the chance of that is slim, considering they are 1-2 gens of performance behind which they need to catch up to, nevermind overtaking Intel.Intel fanboy here, but I come in peace.

So there's no point in going AMD unless you're a "hipster"?
Thanks.
Bleek you got a good deal with your 960 there well impressed with the performance you have got and yet again on the best board
Oh take the joke.....
i chose because i used them for years and like them and they have performed flawlessly for me as well
Yeah, I knew you was taking the mickey.
What I should have asked was -
"WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE AMD ABOVE INTEL?"
Multi Tasking / Multi Core performance, Price and the fact that i find Intel CPU's boring
Fair enough, Glad you're happy with the chip. You do realise that you just admited to buying due to brand loyalty though
Each to their own, but I promise you that in future you will beable to buy better all round systems if you can ditch that reasoning.
I've built purely AMD too, But not due to it being AMD. Or due to past experience, You get better end results with research. And research led me to AMD in years previous to Conroe.
I am not saying you should not have bought what you did. As your reason for doing so is your own. But you would have had a better system for similar price would you not, if you had been able to buy outside your love for AMD products
Can I ask how you find Intel CPU's boring?
Come on people, try to convert me!
Convert you? i can't convert you, nor would, or should i ever try. only you can decide what you value in a chip.
Define boring, joyless, uninspired.
I bought a 2500K when they came out to replace my old Athlon x4, i too was impressed by all the hype and reviewers drooling all over them like drones pandering for lots of free hardware.
To put it in a short way, i could not fault its performance. Yet that chip is now the family Donkey, in the same way a Nissan Primera is a technically decent Car, i got no joy out of it.
I went back to AMD buying the best they had, have i personally taken a performance hit? no! Absolutely not. It does everything i do on my computer every bit as well as the 2500K did, if anything the AMD feels more fluid and snappy, and yes i have my joy back from being an enthusiast.
I could not give a flying .... what happens to our family Donkey, they can spill Orange Juice into it for all i care, it means nothing to me.
But this Rig, this Rig is mine and they know not to touch it.
You can't advise people with conjecture when it's their money.
Who are you talking to? genuine question.
