AMD OWNERS ONLY what cpu do you have

Intel fanboy here, but I come in peace.

Hoping to upgrade soon from my current spec, just wondering why should I opt for a AMD instead of a Intel?

No flaming or fanboyism please.

Quite funny how the thread is called yet over half the thread is dominated by Intel owners :p
Never crossed your mind that lots of "Intel owners" that spoke in here are also "AMD owners"?

From practicality and price point of view, there isn't any...unless coming Piledriver can catch Intel off guard and dominate their CPUs like Athlon 64 dominated Pentium 4 back it the days. But the chance of that is slim, considering they are 1-2 gens of performance behind which they need to catch up to, nevermind overtaking Intel.

Bleek you got a good deal with your 960 there well impressed with the performance you have got and yet again on the best board :-)

It's been flawless and the board is just awesome, really nice piece of kit and super stable.

I went for a suicide on my chip, I can hit 4.7GHz at 1.55v, probably higher on more volts. But my system is air only so didn't want to pop the chip!

It's probably the combination of a lucky chip, a high quality mobo and a super quality psu that keeps it all nice and tight.

i chose because i used them for years and like them and they have performed flawlessly for me as well

Fair enough, Glad you're happy with the chip. You do realise that you just admited to buying due to brand loyalty though :p

Each to their own, but I promise you that in future you will beable to buy better all round systems if you can ditch that reasoning.

I've built purely AMD too, But not due to it being AMD. Or due to past experience, You get better end results with research. And research led me to AMD in years previous to Conroe.

I am not saying you should not have bought what you did. As your reason for doing so is your own. But you would have had a better system for similar price would you not, if you had been able to buy outside your love for AMD products :)

I am loyal to AMD but i have used intel systems before i did have a Pll 1090t in my system before i upgraded i have always got better results from amd

I suppose I have a hangover from the joys of front side bus overclocking and buying cheap processors with the intention of clocking them to more expensive processors.

Overclocking is such an automatic (easy) process nowadays with bios' and cooling technology and largely unnecessary for most applications, the choice of processors so dire that the fun is to some extent having the underdog processor to experiment with.

If every man and his dog can OC a sandy to 4.6+ what is the point?

I still enjoy athlons, pentium 3 and 4 to play with when I get given old machines and also old software applications and operating systems. Welcome to my museum.

Can I ask how you find Intel CPU's boring?

Come on people, try to convert me!

Convert you? i can't convert you, nor would, or should i ever try. only you can decide what you value in a chip.

Define boring, joyless, uninspired.

I bought a 2500K when they came out to replace my old Athlon x4, i too was impressed by all the hype and reviewers drooling all over them like drones pandering for lots of free hardware.

To put it in a short way, i could not fault its performance. Yet that chip is now the family Donkey, in the same way a Nissan Primera is a technically decent Car, i got no joy out of it.

I went back to AMD buying the best they had, have i personally taken a performance hit? no! Absolutely not. It does everything i do on my computer every bit as well as the 2500K did, if anything the AMD feels more fluid and snappy, and yes i have my joy back from being an enthusiast.

I could not give a flying .... what happens to our family Donkey, they can spill Orange Juice into it for all i care, it means nothing to me.

But this Rig, this Rig is mine and they know not to touch it.

+1 AMD seems to run more fluent

You can't advise people with conjecture when it's their money.
"Intel felt boring" = Conjecture
"Better results with AMD" = Factual evidence is against that, but I don't know what Intel rig you had, it might have been when AMD were on top.
"AMD seems to run more fluent" = Have you used a 2500k?

Those aren't knocking you, but for the love of God. Do NOT recommended AMD to people on the basis of loyalty and conjecture when it's their money that's being spent, not yours. Spend your money on AMD till you're blue in the face.
