AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

I think you need to watch and read the Nvidia press conference and material again.

A recent video on youtube had a an overclocked 1080 at double the frames of a stock 980Ti. So what?

NO, Nvidia stated performance both in VR an in regular gaming, the graphs are even on their website.

Oh yes, Against cards boosting to stock boost clocks from the power usage they are putting the parts under, so nowhere near as realistic as they make it out to be.

These guys tell you right at the start what nvidia announced. There graphs are very misleading, they making you believe that a 1080 is faster than 2x 980s and 1070 faster than titanx. They don't make it clear at what.

This is where nvidia is very clever at marketing, Nvidia fan group will believe everything they tell them.
Remember this post and correct me when the reviews all come out I'll happily hold my hand up.

Guys, whilst I know a few are excited about the 1080 (and a few feathers are being rustled in the AMD camp) but can we try and keep the Pascal for the many many Pascal threads please :p

Anyways, if the news about Polaris having problems getting clocks up high enough and it is delayed, this isn't good for us or AMD. I hope this is one rumor that is wrong in truth.

I agree. I just thought it was hilarious to have someone claiming we know as much about the 1080 as we do Polaris!

I'm already disappointed, not so long ago Pascal was 10x Maxwell, Jens 'the man himself' said so
They made it very clear that was a joking sort of calculation and I'm quite sure you know that. I dont know what your response was meant to achieve with that kind of defensive nonsense.

And like I mentioned earlier, remember we all went through this with the 1070/1080 couldn't possibly be as fast as they've turned out to be.
No man, LOTS of us predicted they'd be exactly as fast as they are!

Maybe you spent too much time gobbling up all the fearmongering over Pascal out of wishful thinking, but plenty of us had entirely realistic expectations that turned out quite spot-on.

Looking at the expected power of the Polaris cards I think I'll need to hold out for Vega to comfortably be faster than my 7970's. Can't believe how long they've lasted!

I was just pointing out what some other people had thought.

I was also in the camp of expecting the 1070/1080 performance to be pretty much exactly what it turned out to be (similar to 670/680 vs 580)

And in that same way, I come to the predictions I have for P10.

Its seems stock of the 300 series and fury lineup is about to disappear here in Denmark.. also prices have been dropped a little bit. Wonder if this means 400 series replacements are about to arrive

wouldnt surprise me if they are already in stock...;)

Would mean it would have to almost match the GTX 980 ti at stock clocks, which I somehow highly doubt it will be able to do. Don't think they want to maximize performance with the Polaris lineup and instead go for a more balanced approach, so I'm guessing 390x performance with much lower power consumption.

Yeah it probably will. Worst case for me is 20% on top of the 390 which would put it in-between the gtx980 and fury pro. Best case is 30% which would take it closer to furyx or 980ti stock performance.

Well I certainly hope you are right.

It's not what I'm expecting, though. I think we're gonna see 390X ballpark performance on a small, low watt optimized chip that can be sold for a great price and a tidy profit. I think they're more worried about attacking the larger low/mid range market than the enthusiast level stuff.

They made it very clear that was a joking sort of calculation.

A joking sort of calculation? he was not joking about 10x Maxwell.

What i realised as soon as he said it he was flat out lying or using some obscure measure not even remotely relevant.

It was no joke, he knows his fan army believe anything he says so he says anything to get them all hyped up, which is exactly what happened.

It was only a joke when its turned out to be complete BS.

Who says the P10XT is £200?

When they said they wanted to bring down the entry level VR price, I always assumed they were talking about the P10pro.

It still makes a lot of sense if P10XT is 1070 performance for £300, and P10pro is 390X performance for £200.

They won't sell if they are anymore than £200, its already been said on here, as they are already shelling out for the headsets.
