AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

You realize many doing it are AMD 'supporters', right?

Stop with the us vs them stuff.

I never said who "they" were, but your comment is telling of your own mindset as if you feel like i hit a nerve. Judging by the finger pointing you are doing i would assume you do not view yourself as part of the AMD supporters which makes me wonder then what group you align yourself with, then again not really.

Perhaps you should pause for a minute or 2 before you comment the next time. It might just so happen that what you were reading could mean something different than what you make it out to be.

pretty typical club tunes. whether thats your music is up to you though.

I guess it isn't a million miles from the popular rubbish blasted out in the likes of Chicago Rock, Wetherspoons, etc. sounds even worse than a typical night out in those kind of clubs though :S

Yeah, I would not mind. With a title that makes it clear we want Polaris news and discussion, not maxwell/pascal. Lol

You do realize that it was posters like Relentless81, AlomoX amd AllBodies that started making Polaris to 1070 comparisons. I have absolutely nothing wrong g with people ficus song Polaris ratove to the 1070 becuase that is the only real comparison to make and it is an I retesting point of contention.

What we could.do is have a thread dedicated to Polaris news where absokutely no discussion is allowed, only posts that have a link to a website/YouTube video are allow. All new is then in 1 compact place, easy to find. Then this thread can remain as the discussion of tge nes pices and peoples opinions, carrying on as before.

Discussing Polaris without reference to any other GPU, technology or vendor would be incredibly boring and uninformative.

Nope, not an AMD supporter. Not an Nvidia supporter either, though. Not how I work.

I just think there's been a bit of hypocrisy in just who is and isn't allowed to talk about comparisons with Pascal without being nagged for it. But whatever.

Fair enough dude. But every time I looked at a post I just saw your name and it being about nvidia. Hope you can understand :)

I wonder if the people who went to Macau got to bring a Polaris back with them for review :D

I would hope.so, but If the NDA lifts June 29th that is a lot longer than most reviewers would get. AMD could be using g the next month to build.stock for a hard launch

I'm not going to bite your attempt to kick off another argument Greg.

Nothing at all wrong with anyone going off topic or even having arguments, thats life. no need to get hyperbolic about it.

My only point is its got a bit much and its getting difficult to seek out the 1 Polaris post amongst the many different arguments / side debates.

Thats the only thing i'm going to say to your attempt at an argument with me. / don't PM me if you have a problem, just drop it.

Back on topic please :)

I have no interest in arguing but pointed out that those whinging about the off topic nonsense were doing the same damned thing. I at least gave some info that was maybe useful, so not sure what you are getting all upset over.

Talking of Polaris, if the new 480 (possibly X) will be the same speed as a Nano, I can't help but feel somewhat deflated from a personal perspective. The 390/X will clock to and past a Nano and is already equipped with 8GB of 512 bit memory, so I really don't see a market for the 480/X. It could well be an overclockers dream though and really ramp up and surpass a FX possibly, so maybe there is hope for it. I was hoping for a 1080 competitor and would have been nice to compare the 1080 against AMD's top card but looks like it might well be the 1080Ti Vs the Vega card at Christmas time (hopefully).

That is pretty good since that is an R10 480. People on that site failed to realise that the RX is Roman numeral for R10 and it's not the 480X that they had running.

The 480 at nano level performance for less than £180 would be a hot seller but the benchmark seems to show that its actually faster than that. I think even a 980ti manages about 60 @1440P and this 480 is matching that?

A 480X could therefore be potentially as fast or faster than FuryX/TitanX level.

If an a £180 nano was sold I'd probably buy 2, one for use and 1 for display as I have a mini-itx board :D

A stock 980ti however will do 90 fps at 1440p on doom I think.

Polaris is too small Greg, even 10. I think most are hoping for a 1070 competitor, even if it's going to keep nVidia in check somewhat :)

(with probable stronger DX12 performance)

Yep my gut feeling is amd are not going to get near 1080 performance, but don't think they need to tbh, I think competing with the 1070 will be enough but we will have to wait and see

Another hint about polaris as well.

From one of the guys at computex, possible hint at polaris being better than expected?

Id tak that with an absolute massive bucket of salt, after the FuryX :p

Don't people even bother to read links anymore?? The comment is from one of the people who writes for TweakTown and Forbes NOT AMD.

i dont usualy derail threads, but defining the position of polaris 10 by comparing it to the 1070 perf/price wise does seem obvious and within the thread's topic, and i usualy get out of the argument if it turns into bashing, or way off topic.
