A bit of competition can only be good for the consumer, really hope AMD brings out something "special" in the CPU line to stimulate more development from Intel, and vice versa....;)

i agree, competition can only be good

there is a danger of development slowing at the moment, the average user really needs no more then a basic system so if amd/intel get keep trying to beet each other it will be good for all.

if they feel confident to release an FX chip then yes, its good news. It means that they believe that they can take Intel on otherwise they would just keep the Black Editions introduced when X2 stopped being top of the line.

Looks to be a new 45nm Phenom based FX chip in the works

AMD Phenom™ FX Series processors :)

Woah it must be good!!!Guess we'll have to wait for some reviews. Incidently when is this out and is that the deneb core being 45nm and all?

Why would it be triple core? I would have thought that to make it seem like the "ultimate megatasking experience" it would have to have all 4 cores enabled?

Glad that the FX moniker will be back, Black Edition just doesn't cut it. Hopefully the performance will be at the standards we should expect from an FX chip. :)

Hopefully AMD can put something competitive on the table now, it'll only serve to improve chips and drive prices down.

I'm hoping this is something special, having AMD back and competing in the CPU and GPU markets will hopefully keep things moving.

Couple of links

Any problems with the links please take them down :D

I assume they will just be very decent clocking 45nm parts?
I notice several manufacturer sites have the Phenom FX badge on their motherboard info pages now. :)
