AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

Well my 3.82Ghz has passed 2 days of Folding@home both cpu+gpu running so think it's stable at 1.47vcore temps are 32 idle 49 folding, 56-58 prime

Is it worth going higher to 4ghz? I assume I'd have to increase the volts to 1.55 or higher and think the trade off isn't worth it since I'm just using antec 620 cooling.

What do other C3 955 users think?

I tried using 4ghz 1.6vcore

and it bluescreened? yowza, sounds to me like you either have a pretty bad chip or a crap motherboard, 4Ghz should be solid at 1.55v
if you can't get it stable at that, then it's not worth overvolting with that 620 cooler, you'd need some serious custom water cooling for 24/7 running at anything about 1.55v

as for noticing a difference between 3.82 and 4Ghz, not likely, only difference would be seen in benchmarks,

Running 4.1GHz @ 1.455v~ with Corsair A50 cooler, stable so far (Phenom II X4 955 RB-C3 revision)

I spent couple of hours stressing using prime95, did some gaming, couple of video encoding and no crashes (I'm gonna stress it for more than 2 hours next time.)

Think you said in another thread it might be because I've got all my 4 ram slots used up, even though I only use about 20-50% most times. I might try taking out the 2 sticks I'm not using and try running 1.55vcore @4ghz sometime.

aren't Phenom II processors bottlenecked by their CPU-NB and slow L3 cache? what sort of performance boosts, has anyone benchmarked the difference? stock CPU speed, stock CPU-NB vs. stock CPU speed, OC-ed CPU-NB? was under the impression that was one of the things that slow Phenom II down.

Whats the kind of max temperatures for the 1090T? Screenshot of what I'm currently at :

Now that says 69*c but it only fluctuated upto that for a brief second then dropped back down again. It still seems to high to me though, this is with a corsair H70 aswell. :/

max safety temp is 62c

but try to keep it under 55c

Mines idling at about 34... which i dont like. I installed two new fans as well

Blimey, how cool do you want it to idle? Fans on silent my 955BE will hover around 37-39, or 32 with fans high, case open, window open, and a cold breeze coming in.

Still, you could try K10stat to drop the voltage on your idle p-state. Not sure it works on hex cores, but worth a shot? :)

Well opened the windows last night, finally managed to install a top fan on my case with another one planned and idle temps have now dropped to lower than 30.

Running LinX 20 times, the temps hit 49 which I'm happy with, especially during 'summer' time ha.
