AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

I got used 2 having loud pcs i guess. My integra is loud but civic was even louder lolz.

This was loud :D

I want to get my 965 to 4Ghz. It is verry happy at 3.75 @ 1.375 volts which I have achieved by just upping the CPU Bus/ Peg Freq to 220Mhz.

Should I upp the voltage to 1.4 and up the frequncy till it hits 4? C3 revision with a good cooler. :)

Max volts are 1.55V, provided you have good mid to top end range cooling, you shouldn't have any issues with those volts,

Recently gone from an unlocked 555 to a hex, for no good reason :D

After some teething problems I was starting to regret it (couldn't get everything stable even at stock) but after fiddling with the ram testing is starting to look promising again:

Wassup. I got this **** on some time ago

Got jak731's X2 555 to 72 hours Prime95 In-Place FFTs stable at 1.3V unlocked (19.5% load line calibration to drop it slightly over 1.3V load) to four cores. Which is sweet :D

As I'm running linux I would run Linpack but I have no idea now to run that from the command line.

So happy now it's working :D

This is confusing the crap outta me...

Any ideas? Runs games perfectly stable for the 3 hours I was gaming, no hanging at all whilst doing anything.

Its clearly not temps as I've not seen higher than the 48'c stated - even after the gaming.

CPU-NB is running at x13, so 2600mhz at 1.35v

4.2ghz on only 1.40vlts.!!!

Unless you struck gold with your particular CPU, the vast majority of Phenom II Quads need more vlts than that once you go past 3.8Ghz.

May well be stable in gaming at 1.4vlts because i doubt any game out there will stress the CPU as much as a burn test will, so that is when the instability is showing itself.

I hit 4GHz on 1.30 :(

I'll try upping it tomorrow, and see how that affects it.

As this is the overclocking thread, I thought I'd ask here, I need some help getting my 955BE stable at 3.8GHZ please.

So far all I've touched is the cpu vcore and multiplier. So northbridge is stock and memory is running stock as well. The chip is a c3 revision, which apparently should do 3.8 fine, but I can't get it prime stable :(.

1.440V, will pass Linx no problems, perfectly stable. Prime will bsod at random, normally before the hour mark. Same story all the way to 1.464, Linx will pass, prime will fail quite early. At 1.464 under load from prime it's better but still not stable, bsod at 6 hour mark. Increased to 1.476 and stable for 9 hours and was just about to stop test and as I went to it Bsod .

Seems a bit excessive considering most are saying should do 3.8 at 1.44-6. Just looking for some advice. Should I give the cpu-nb voltage a slight raise, seen a few posts suggestion it may help, even though it's stock or do I need to put the nb to 2400 and raise voltage slightly, as again I've seen this suggested elsewhere.

Do I just have a crap chip?, wouldn't suprise me, have terrible luck.

Board is an Asus sabertooth 990fx, so plenty of options to tweak.

Thanks for the help :).

Pretty sure it's not the memory. Memory is running at rated settings

Set to 1333MHZ in bios and 9-9-9-25-32, on 1T @1.5V which are it's rated settings for 1333Mhz. It's 8GB of kingston genesis grey.

First time overclocking here, but I would have thought if it was memory, then the increase on vcore wouldn't have made a difference, but prime was definitly more stable at 1.476, than it was at 1.440, but still not 100% :(.

Two sticks. 2x4GB kit.

I'll try upping the NB voltage slightly tonight then. Just to be sure this board has two setting NB and CPU/NB, NB is chipset, CPU/NB is the NB/IMC on the cpu, that's the one you mean give a nudge to right?

I guess best thing to do then, is give it a slight raise and run core a 1.476 as that was most stable and then if it's stable with the raised nb volts, work backwards and see how low it will go?

Thanks :)
