AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

thanks for that jimmy, i think I will invest in this cooling setup,
As for the overclocking profiles yes you are correct, 3.4 3.6 and 3.8 but i wasnt sure if it using these profiles was advisable ?

do my temps seem high for a stock system ?
the PC is quite close to radiator.

it seems the CPU and GPU stay around the same temps.

Anyone in this thread got a 4.2 GHZ bench run or am i still the only one that managed it this is going back to the fritz super pi thing we were doing last month *edit* post number 63 on this very thread

P:S wayne how do you create a link to a single post

zoomee, the problem could be the ram at 1600mhz. i get issues that prime95 crashs after about 4hours when i set the ram to 1600mhz. 1333mhz i don't get any problems

looks like it was the otherway round for me mate ;) - prime95 blend for past 5 and half hrs seems good. If it runs cool overnight I'll give the multi a boost with additional vcore tommorow. Early BIOS , had one RMA already (wrong model supplied) so patience wearing thin

@@Big.Wayne - ta dude. DRAM frequency just gave me a selection of speeds no multi. So set that to DDR3-1600 and manually set volts to 1.65v

Had the system nearly 2 week and runs blend load @ 40degrees C stock. Hope it can handle the extra juice 2mora. If it does well I'll reward it with another 4gb as this board can handle 4 x 2Gb well, apparantly :)

Jimmy: have a bash on some of these, don't bother with Super-PI

zoomee: you won't see the memory multiplier unless you look in CPU-z [Memory] tab . . . mine says FSB: DRAM [1:2] . . . CPU-z shows it back to front as I think it should say [2:1] i.e: Take the HT ref (200) multiply by [2] and divided by [1] = 400MHz (DDR2-800) . . . thats a memory multiplier!

gurusan: I was in MM earlier looking at an AM3 board and some Gskill memory . . . it was selling a bit higher than I could afford and thought about putting in an offer for £120 paypal gift . . . was dilly dallying a bit and when I clicked refresh you had appeared and made the offer I was thinking of making! :p

lol. Yeah I mentioned earlier I wasn't a huge fan of my current board. It overclocks well but I really need a board with more fine tuning settings.

Will post back my results when I get it all up and running. Sorry for stealin' the deal :p

HT/NB doesn't seem to affect benchs a lot but it definitely helps with smoothness.

I'll find 3.2ghz clock with 2600HT/NB smoother than 4ghz with 2000HT/NB.
As in responsiveness that is, at 2600-2700HT/NB the thing is just as good as moving from mechanical HDD to SSD : ).

@gurusan - how do you like the new toy ? : )

So would I be right in thinking you AM3 guys have a few upwards memory multipliers to get the sticks running at DDR3-1066/1333/1600 with a stock HT Ref.?
yes..

also i've tryed lowering the ram and upping the HT Ref but its the same..

can some on recommend me the best cooler for a 995x4 3.2ghz please ?
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme

i didn't have hwmonitor running and it seem fine,

tomorrow ill do same but with the ram at 1600mhz 7-7-7-20.

that way ill know if it's the ram or hwmonitor that making issues.

does anyone know why when turning a light on/off or turning a electric plug on/off, makes my pc restarts sometimes
